60 fps freesync problem

First of all, hello everyone;
When I bring the game to 60 fps, there are screen bursts in the loading screen and the game. This problem disappears when I disable freesync or when I get the game to 30 fps. At first I thought there was something wrong with my monitor but this problem only happens with this game. I also have a lot of fps loss after 1 hour of flight, fps starts moving between 10 and 5, these issues didn’t exist before but after the last update the game was full of problems. I am waiting for your help in this matter
Note:
My english is not good so i apologize

what does it mean exactly ?

per rule report only one issue within a report. Beside of this you can use forum search function and you find existing threads for this point.

there is a burst of light. the brightness seems to go up and down but when I get the game at 30 fps it gets better and when I get it at 60 fps it starts again

is it “flickering” ?

If so this can be by Free-Sync monitors if you not stay within the Free-Sync range ( my LG is same ). My experiance is: Free-Sync is still not G-Sync ( the real certified ) where you have range from 1-maxFPS. My monitor have Free-Sync range starting from 48FPS , else there is flickering. Because of 4K it makes it more or less useless

yes there is shivering. but when the place I marked in the picture is 30, the shaking goes away. This problem started to occur after the last update, it was working at 60 fps until before.

There is a change in which way MSFS handle v-sync in window mode and they fixed also the V-Sync bug.

Have you enabled Free-Sync in Nvidia’s Control Panel ? ( or made other settings within ? )

Not sure for the moment why it flickers then in 60’er setting

This is my nvidia settings. other settings default. I think I’ll send the monitor to service :frowning:

is nvidia control panel setting “let application decide” ?

And have you already tried without Free-Sync and 60fps ?
( in two steps : first disable g-sync compatible , then disable whole g-sync )

I turned off the G sync and tried the method you said. It looks like there is nothing wrong but why does this issue occur when gsync is enabled? I was playing with gsync, which was running smoothly before the update. Could this problem be caused by the monitor?

so.. I tried it.. I enabled my Free-Sync and have as expected flickering if FPS goes lower. With Limit to 30FPS this not happens. And I think it is the fallback to V-Sync what we do with the 30fps setting

It is caused by the monitor, but it doesn’t imply the monitor is faulty. What monitor do you have exactly?

In short, the problem appears when the monitor’s refresh rate is jumping between two rather different values. Different refresh rates have slightly different brightnesses, and so this problem is mostly visible when you’re around the edge of the monitor’s VRR window.

For example, my monitor (Acer XB271HU) has a 30-165 Hz window; if my framerate is in the 27-33 fps region, I get flicker, because the monitor is at 30 Hz for 30 fps, 31 Hz for 31 fps etc; but at 58 Hz (29 * 2) for 29 fps, 56 Hz (28 * 2) for 28 fps and so on.
So it’s jumping between 30-ish and 60-ish Hz and that’s rather uncomfortable.

what I wrote… Free-Sync monitors can flicker if not in exact Free-Sync range

The issue isn’t really that you’re outside it though, but that you’re jumping between inside and outside.
That’s why the FPS cap helps. You’re always outside the range (in low-framerate compensation) where the problem doesn’t really show up.

exactly… leaving the Free-Sync range, the lower edge.

yeah.. that I mean’t with “fallback” case

For me is the Free-Sycn Feature of my monitor useless. Because it is near 4K monitor and I run often lower than 48fps.
My Asus WQHD have 1-165fps G-Sync range. A completely other level of “Syncing”. Unfortunately are 4K monitors with the “real” G-Sync very expensiv and near "usury ".

I shot 2 videos for better understanding. Although not very obvious, this flickering happens all over the screen. But when I limit it to 30 fps or disable the freesync feature, it removes it. How should my nvidia settings be to avoid this problem?

I also get fps loss after flying awhile. Seems if I change screens or scan around the cockpit or exterior the goof fps return. Weird.

yes.. same by me. As say’d : “Free-Sync-Monitor” ( read the manual , I’am sure the flickering is mentioned, at least in my LG manual )

Can you give us the exact monitor model ?

We ( @Aeluwas , I ) tried to explain it.

Best is you let run an FPS counter, then you will see it happens if you often come out of the lower edge of Free-Sync and then back into the range.
If you limit it to 30 ( note: this means not 30fps! , it mean the first v-sync step (max/2) ) then you stay mostly out of Free-Sync range and you not run into flickering.

I recommend that you do same as I do => disable Free-Sync ( in nvidia control panel the below marker/setting ) or in your monitor settings.

EDIT: will also repeat… also the V-Sync Setting 60 does NOT MEAN 60fps  .. it means your monitor max

Thank you very much for your help. I will play the game with freesync closed.

monitor msi mag241cr

The monitor starts flickering or shows waves.
■ Change the refresh rate to match the capabilities of your monitor.

But… not seen the lower edge within the manual .. possible 75 FPS. If so, then you are with VSync-30 short below of this with your 144fps monitor…

( I have 75fps .. V-Sync:30 = 37.5fps : lower edge is 48 ).

EDIT: hmmmm … I found

The MSI Optix MAG241C FreeSync range is 48-144Hz/FPS (Frames Per Second).

this would be a bit… you can only check with a FPS counter ( or temporary use developer mode ) how the fps in your case are.

Also:

FreeSync also works when using compatible NVIDIA G-SYNC graphics cards. However, some users experience brightness flickering when FreeSync/G-SYNC is enabled.

The mentioned link also explain these Flickering
