737 Max APP/LOC Buttons

Can anyone help me out. I used to be able to capture the glide slope when it’s aligned using the APP button.

This button and the LOC buttons don’t work for me on the 737 max; they will click but not engage/set.

I have the relevant ILS and approach set in the MDCU and the pink glide slope appears…

Trawled the net and tried changing the NAV1 to the ILS frequency (as apparently in 2020 that was automatic) but still no joy.

This has to be user error surely as there’s nothing on here to suggest it’s a bug?

I’m sorry I can help you, but I have the same problem. Whatever I do I cannot get the APP button to go green for the ILS.

Hope someone might be more helpful soon.

Tell everybody in the house to put their phones in flight mode (sorry not helpful) :grinning: :grinning:

In the FMS of the 737 you need to fill out the approach page. That only involves selecting the flaps/speed config you are going to be using for landing eg 30deg flaps/140kts etc.
You copy and paste that init the field at the bottom to select it. The page is located down
perf init → index → approach.

Also make sure you have Nav1 ils frequency manually added in, it doesn’t auto fill AND have the runway heading dialled into the Nav1 course dial on the MCP.

ILS should capture provided you are underneath the G/S.
