747 SET IRS POS Not There

After programming a route in the mcdu there is a route line but no distance or eta on the screen. After reading tutorials on how to perf init I follow instrtuctions until it says " press LSK next to SET IRS POS". But there is no SET IRS POS. Even the instructions for this plane is wrong. Is there no way to navigatge the 747 like it was when the sim first released? The 747 is useless now.

Certainly not true and a touch hyperbolic. People fly it every day.

Which manual were you referring to? Working Title posted their V1 manual in June of 2023, make sure you are using that, and following all the checklists as you go.

Have you switched the IRS selectors to NAV?

I flew it yesterday and again today. It’s there and works as expected. Nothing is required to POS INIT beside provide power to the FMC. It should be the 1st thing you do once the fmc is powered up.

I have the same problem. Absolutely rubbish. Sick of constant issues with this game/AC now

I see you are on PC, could you test again using safe mode (it will disable your community and marketplace addons): once into the sim, go to your Windows Task manager and terminate msfs.exe. Restart the sim and you’ll get the safe mode option.

Check out that related topic where in safe mode it worked, what indicates a mod/addon conflict issue: 747 Inertial Reference System not working after update - #14 by Nascimento1701

I cannot reproduce the issue

Once on the FMS, “SET IRS POS” is empty:

Make sure to add the coordinates under “SET IRS POS”:

IRS initialized:

I finally understand how bug is triggered. When you turn on battery and external power, if you switch the MCDU on POS INIT page before set IRS knobs to ALIGN and NAV, the SET IRS POS row doesn’t appear and you have to reload the flight. Instead if you turn on battery and external power and set first IRS knobs and then switch MCDU on POS INIT page the SET IRS POS row appear regularly on both MCDU. I would be grateful if someone can replicate this scenario just as confirm.

Hey, I can repro this the same as you. Thanks for your comment, now I know what to avoid!

This is clearly a bug but so we have an acceptable workaround. I hope Asobo will fix it in future. I noticed that this bug is present in 747 of MSFS2024 also.

thanks, this really worked for me.
