I map a button on my controller to “HUD View” (I forget the exact name) in the sim standard control binding list, and I will switch to that view whenever I want to use the HUD. I’m not sure if you’ve tried that, but give it a shot and see if it makes the HUD useful for you.

Unless I’m specifically using the HUD, I never have it down. And when I do have it down, I only select the HUD view.

I don’t believe this is a bug. That’s how it works in real life, the piece you lower is just a glass panel and the hud itself is projected onto it from a small projector above the pilot’s position. In order to have a good view of the hud you need to be in the center position or otherwise the projection will be cut off because it’s just reflecting off the glass panel and onto your eyes.

Check this article to see what a real life hud system looks like:
https://www.fly737ng.com/?page_id=18

even if its supposed that way u camera needs to be in the exact right possition or its useless and thats just not gonna happen it would be easier to just fix it in the display

the settings list are too long and there are too few buttons on my ps5 controller for that xD

That’s just it. If you “fixed” the image on the HUD, then it is just a normal 2D display, it would by definition no longer be a HUD, which is a collimated display that is supposed to project an image at a fixed location “in the distance.”

It’s OK, this just means the HUD is less important to you than other functions, so you should definitely bind your most important functions.

So I agree with GFX. This isn’t a bug, it’s how a HUD works. You are in the group of people that don’t like HUDs, which is totally fine :+1:

i would like to use the hud but if i am not exactly right its cut off on the article that gfx provided the hud has more space in the glass panel to move around a bit but in my plane it doesnt have any space at all maybe its a resolution thing but my hud barely fits

My HUD is just fine. I have it mapped to an hotkey. (Just search HUD in controller settings) There’s also a camera setting that allows you to default to the HUD if one’s available

This is my 787-10 view when using the Cockpit Camera Keybind called “TOGGLE HUD VIEW”

You can also get here by using the Camera drop down menu and going to SMARCAM TARGETS → PILOT - HUD. This could work for you if you don’t have a button available to assign.
