787 Family (-8/-9) Models

With the great news of AAU2 and the attention going to the B787-10 systems, would it be possible to get the 787-8 and -9 modeled to accompany the existing -10? WT mentioned how they’re going to use performance data to get the -10 more in line with real-world ops, so can similar data (presumably from the same sources) be used to tune the smaller siblings if they’re modeled by Asobo? They probably wouldn’t take too long to model.

They don’t have any modelers.

If they don’t have modelers, who modeled the -10 and all the other aircraft that came with the sim?

Not Working Title.

WT said they’ll be working on an updated flight model based on real performance data and sounds. What I suggested, is if Asobo modeled the -8/-9, would WT be able to use the same sources of information for the flight models of those similar aircraft.

That being said, it seems @bravoair has something to look out for.

Looking forward to it!

Asobo modeled the 787-10 and as far as we know they have no plans to create -8 and -9 versions. This is available only in the Premium Deluxe Edition anyway. With Working Title updating the flight systems, it would probably be possible for someone to use this system and put a -8 or -9 external model “over it”. Kind of like how LVFR created the Airbus 318, 319 and 321 based on the default 320neo system.

But if a 787-8 and/or -9 ever comes to the sim, it will be made by someone else, not Asobo.

Interesting, what is your current airliner catalogue?

Not familiar with name / products so interested

Cool. Would love to see the -8 version.

LatinVFR is working on those, they presumably won’t release until after the update. I like their A320 family planes, they’re not the most advanced planes but they’re good for the price.

Freeware developer “Kuro” has made 787-8 based on Asobo 787-10’s HeavyDivision (HD) enhancements. Kuro even simplified its flap settings to match real world 787-8’s actual simplified flap operations (6 notches instead of 9 notches in 787-9 and 10).

The only lacking thing in this “normal operations” 787-10 is just the Rolls Royce engine options, which is being considered in the AAU update - very nice. Hopefully they also updated the visuals as well, since Trent 1000TEN engines have 2 more fan blades and longer nozzle.

LatinVFR aircraft are fine, but it is weird in these days that payware developers are relying on default systems, although paying for models & effects is nothing new in Flight Sim world. I guess, the more of them, the merrier.

It is just nice that Asobo and MS keeps committing to the sim after 3 years and revisit their products.

Where did you guys see that Latinvfr is doing the 787-8?

Based on your question, I went over to LatinVFR’s forums and found this way down in one of the pages. Not much detail mentioned there.

Understood.

Kuros had a free 787-8 variant mod, but it was before AAU2. I don´t get why they decided to put the 787-10 out of the three variants, its the less used with only 80 being delivered, while the 9 and 8 variants have 600 and 400 delivered. Also the sim doesnt have any mid sized commercial so it would have been a good choice to go with the 8, but i guess the bigger the plane the better the marketting i guess

My guess is Boeing told them to use the -10 for marketing purposes because it’s the latest and what they’d like to advertise.

787-8 would be great to have. and freeware options don’t help console users. Frankly unless an add-on is for all users, then it’s limiting

We are working on this.

Cool ! Any eta?

We are pushing. we are wrapping up essential elements. But I don’t wish to jinx it because it’s been delayed continuously. Everyone will know the day it’s with Microsoft.
