@odourboy Here you go!
Departing JFK 31L, gentle climb to 5000’ directly over Manhattan, and remaining at 5000 over New Jersey. Live weather (scattered clouds today 4/8 coverage), no traffic, fps unlocked, vsync off. All settings maxed, clouds on Ultra. From the variance graph you can see there’s much more stuttering at TLOD 400, but that’s to be expected with an unlocked framerate. Resolution was 3440x1440 with DLSS DLAA mode. Actual 4K wouldn’t make any difference as GPU time was about 6-7 ms per frame, far less than CPU time. 4K might be 8 or 9 ms, still far from being the limiter.
This isn’t really an ideal way to use the sim though. For best results on an X3D with that kind of complex aircraft and setup you don’t want unlocked frames. If you keep the TLOD reasonable, say 150 ish, and lock to 60 fps the smoothness is just incredible over even the heaviest photogrammetry.
Also the A320 is so computationally heavy, but not consistently so, that it has a hard time getting out of its own way a lot of the time.
Same flight over Manhattan but at TLOD 150, framerate locked to 60, vs a simpler plane. A320 is in orange, L-39 Albatros in green…
As I’ve mentioned before I’m not entirely sure these X3Ds are the best fit for airliners. The 13900Ks may have better perf here. For GA, military and helos though… the X3Ds are brilliant.
