Ah… Thanks for that info.
Btw my Sapphire Nitro+ 7900xtx can pull up to ~450w when OC’d and ~400w otherwise so I recommend to check the TDP of the specific gpu that you are purchasing as they will vary a little. This is my 3rd AMD gpu and I have no regrets. Hardly ever have any driver issues and if I do they are very minor. The Nvidia posts/threads on driver issues seem to be never ending
.
Only issue I have (and can’t seem to resolve) is screen flickering within my browser, which only began when I downloaded March’s AMD driver update. All subsequent updates give me the same. At one stage, reinstalling December’s remedied it but even that now won’t work. As annoying as it is, I’ve learned to live with it.
The flickering only occurs when I’ve another task open, in addition to my browser. Seems fine if only the browser is open.
Good to know. My 3090 Ti is using 435W as I type this.
I just replaced my 900W UPS with a 1600W unit, because I had a few sudden computer shutdows when the total load exceeded 900W. UPS no like > rated load. ![]()
I used to have this issue a long while ago but I can’t exactly remember what I did to fix it
. Try toggling “Hardware Acceleration” in your browser settings to on. If it’s already on try turning it off.
Thanks; however someone recommended that and I’ve already tried it… to no avail. As I say, I’ve just learned to live with it. No effect on MSFS.
Since changing my settings a bit and using FG - set in-sim -not adrenaline- alongside a frame rate locked at 60, (previously I was not using FG but at the cost of overall smoothness) I’ve noticed shadows (and a few other textures) stutter.
An easy way to see it is look over the wing from inside the aircraft on a sunny day whilst taxiing and the wing shadow stutters.
Anyone else seen this or got a solve?
If you’re referring to the undulation or rippling of the edge of the shadow, yes, I see it too. Always have done. Could this be demonstrative of AMD’s poorer ray tracing performance?
It may be an artifact due to frame generation. The most visible is the shadow of the plane on the ground which flickers in low altitude flight. But hey… it’s the price to pay to have twice as many fps…
and then it will probably be improved with fsr 4 when it is activated with msfs 2024.
If you want to try FSR4 have a look at optiscaler, which works with both versions of MSFS. I don’t know if it’ll sort your issue as I don’t use FG (I only play in VR) but it won’t hurt to try.
I get that too, but I mean an actual juddering of the shadow along the ground.
Thanks for the feedback all, I suspect it is a frame gen artefact.
Are we SU2 or SU3 for your findings?
I now get what you’re referring to as I see it myself. The shadow actually jumps and flickers. There’s also a weird moire-type effect in the runway when rolling, that maintains itself just a few metres ahead of the aircraft. There are other textures flickering too, at the screen edges. I changed from FSR 3 to TAA — not had chance to test if that’s the culprit but I’ve certainly not noticed it before — from what I’ve seen so far, it seems to only happen with the iFly MAX and Fenix Airbuses (but I could be wrong).
I happens with draco x too and probably others…
I’m having shadows flickering badly in the cockpit. It’s even worse at night. If you use the torch light, it’s more evident. In the A300-600 its even showing black lines in certain angles. Nothing in the configuration changes it. The last resort is rollback to the previous driver. It’s so annoying and it brakes the immersion for me.
Can you tell us with which version it’s fine ?
Thanks
It`s the FSR3 frame gen. Using the Lossless scalling FG the artifacting are almost gone. It’s only visible at weird angles.
I tested and verified, the fsr frame gen is not responsible for the artifacts…
Yeah, texture flickering are back even with the framegen disabled. FS20 works well. Still using Adrenalin 25.6.3.
Just tried Adrenalin 25.6.1 and still have those artifacts.
For the artifacts, every system with this card gets them. Two of my customers have them on the build I made for them using this card. Here is the bug report for those who are interested:
