I’m a huge fan of the -f-16. Fly it, almost exclusively, in DCS. I would like to fly this great jet fighter in MSFS. But, I don’t care for that DC version. The exterior looks like a twenty year old, model to me. And don’t like that cockpit at all. But I think I read somewhere that they are bringing this airplane up to the standards of newer models entering the sim. New textures, etc. Is this a fact? I can’t find where I read this, or did I imagine that? I am getting old!

Ask them directly:
A word of advice, maybe if you go ask DC, don’t present it in terms of “I think the F-16 currently sucks, are you improving it?” like you basically did here.

Two other devs have F-15s on their list of upcoming projects. Both should be more detailed and in depth.
In reality, the F16 is in fact over 40 years old.
Just like you, I fly this sportscars in DCS and it’s great.
I bought it as a WIP and back in time it was very basic.
They have since then constantly working om updates and improvements.
To be honest: Fighterjets in MSFS are not my cup of tea since they lack working weaponry.
That is not a rant towards MS/Asobo btw.
It is what it is and in term of flying and exploring the globe, nothing can beat MSFS

I’m like you, in that I like my military planes to do military things, like shoot things and bomb things. But I have DCS for that. I will say that I bought my first fighter (CJ Simulations Rafale) a couple of weeks ago, and it’s a hoot. The speed, the agility, the instrumentation, and the vapor coming off the wings during transonic flight, or in a high-G turn, is really cool, and totally unattainable in anything but a fighter jet.
So, like everything in this sim, I accept its limitations and enjoy the things I can do with it. (Not a knock against anyone who wants/needs weapons. I totally get it.)

Indiafoxtecho have said they’ve got an F-16 planned but I get the impression its pretty far off release so don’t hold your breath.
the update is just a joke, you can see it from the F14 update and typhoon update, texture and 3D quality is still terrible after the updates. find a real cockpit photo from Google then you can see a lot wrong in 3D models.
but good news is indiafoxtecho is making a real high quality F-16, there is no release date yet tho.

I wonder if IFE’s F-16 will be a cooperative effort with Eagle Dynamics to port the DCS version, as their F-14 is a collaboration with Heatblur regarding their DCS aircraft?

probably wont be a DCS portover from IFE as 2024 coding changes mean it will have to be a native aircraft, portovers are being removed. Plus Heatblur have allegedly severed ties with IFE since releasing the F14. BUT MScenery also have an F16 availiable at a much cheaper price point if the SC Designs doesnt meet your exacting standards maybe their brand of “very high detail” will satisfy your needs.

Do you have a source for that (genuine question)?
I’ve been haunting the HB discord for weeks (I own their F-14 for DCS as well as the IFE/HB F-14 for MSFS) and I have their F-4 Phantom pre-ordered. I haven’t seen anything about such a parting of the ways, but it’s a super busy server. It’s possible I’ve missed it.

I would really help if people would stop relaying things they have just heard somewhere and don’t really know much about and the context around it.

Like i said im not a member as i cant use DCS its not worth my time but several of other community have relayed that message. apparently they are coming in on their own storefront rather than piggy backing IFE. I have no idea why and do not intend to speculate on other companies business plans
The HB/IFE F-14 was sold on the Heatblur store from the start.
