Nicely put. It would seem that these forums can be a good place be.
Yes same experience here.
Tried a ātestā flight in P3d V5.x as a kind of reference thing, and even with all my [expensive] ORBX addons, it felt as if someone had turned everything off. Even the light!
Bit the bullet and uninstalled it all. At least I have recovered a great swathe of valuable SSD space!
What that means is that ASOBO has made updates to those entries.
To get them you need to have the next sim update (the newer version), which we havenāt got quite yet.
Frankly I think flight dynamics in fsx and p3d is like it was flying on rails. How can that be considered realistic? I think the GA planes in msfs reacts closer to the real thing than in any sim ive tried. Im not a pilot but ive been up in cessna 172 many, many times and some times we have had to go to another airport cause the wind was just beating us up and it got dangerous. It can get rather bumpy up in the air and flying on rails like fsx and p3d is not for me.
Thatās what I keep saying to people. Fcuipc 7 is a mustā¦
Thanks Thesevenflyer for the reply.
As a comment to the conversation above: I think that the handling characteristics of aircraft are very realistic. However you have to use a decent controller and have the āsensitivityā set up correctly. I had a lot of difficulty at first when I tried using an xbox game controller.
At this point Iāll take flying on rails over this bouncy ,jittery, jumpy nose trim, arcade feeling controls of MSFS. I wouldnāt consider this overly exaggerated nose bounce and suicidal autopilot mechanics in MSFS realistic either.
Disclaimer: This is a long rant that I make no apologies for making if some haters out there donāt like what I have to say. If youāre content with a broken sim, so be it. I am not. This isnāt about your level of satisfaction with the current state of the sim, this is about my feelings on the subject. If youāre content, so be it, but please just ignore what Iām saying. Iām not interested in a debate or argument.
That said, here we go:
Iāve been very patient and somewhat gracious as problem after problem emerge after patches and updates. Iāve been understanding and encouraged after viewing developer Q&As where everyone reassures us that things will improve soon. Yet time and time again, things donāt improve. In fact, they often get worse.
This is a FLIGHT SIMULATOR. It goes without saying that aircraft should work in a FLIGHT SIMULATOR.
WHY, WHY, WHY is it every time an update comes along, something else gets broken? Why do improvements create problems that end up worse than original issues? Why does it take so long for a LARGE team of developers to fix these problems?
For MONTHS, even prior to release, weāve been talking about issues that STILL EXIST today, ranging from airports to aircraft to weather.
Autopilots donāt work. Aircraft perform strange. Weather has problems, photogammetry is awful.
I paid a premium for aircraft that donāt work. INOP buttons are one thing, but basic systems that are functional are broken, with a constant stream of new problems that I discover every day.
I bug report, but itās a tedious process. I donāt have time to go through all of the steps to send issue after issue via zendesk. I also frequently post here. I vote. Nothing changes.
All I want to do is fly. How can a flight simulation company somehow manage to make that nearly impossible, especially after every update?
I AM NOT A NEWBIE. Iāve been simming for 30 years. I know workarounds, I know how to tweak, I know how to troubleshoot. Iāve been following the progress of MSFS since the announcement. Iāve been following all of the concerns from the community along the way. This isnāt my first rodeo. That being said, I think I speak with a certain degree of experience in this space.
This sim in the current state is terrible.
Unless you fly GA, VFR, with minimal use of the autopilot, thereās a good chance that you will need to spend a day or two trying to fix problems instead of flying.
This is ridiculous, and nobody should be patting themselves on the back for a job well done. I would be embarrassed to put my name on any of this at this stage.
The latest bungle? The 320 with a completely broken autopilot. The stock version as well as the 32N. How in Godās name is this even possible? Not only canāt it follow the flight plan or maintain level flight, but even the heading doesnāt work, so unless we fly manually, which makes pitch out of control, along with roll, finding ways to make it work is a ridiculous process, and the solutions are even more bizarre.
Proposed workarounds found in the 32N Discord server donāt really work for many. āTurn off this computer, save and load this flight, disconnect the AP and turn it onā¦blah blah blah.ā This time around, most of these donāt work. Come here to the forum and we get the same problems. No solutions. Wait for a fix from Asobo. Itās tiring. Itās annoying. Itās mind-bogglingly frustrating.
By the way, why should we need to get info on fixes over there when core problems lie within the MSFS code? Thatās your job. Not mine, not the communityās.
3 months of promising to fix autopilots. 3 Months! We had months of problems with the 787 too and TBM. Donāt even get me started on the Longitude. That jet should have its airworthiness certificate revoked.
What the heck is going on over there?
Iāve all but given up on simming after this steady stream of frustrations. Star Wars is more-enjoyable at this juncture.
I waited nearly 2 years for this revolutionary sim to be released. I paid a premium for stuff that doesnāt work, including scenery that is pretty substandard too (have you seen all of the problems at KORD in the deluxe/premium versions, for example?).
The point Iām trying to make is that talk is one thing, but until some real improvements come along, Iām not really interested in loving this sim. Iām not interested in flying it. Iām not interested in making investments in scenery and other addons.
Iām also more than happy to offer my services to test stuff before you release things. Iād like to be part of the solution. Iām good at it.
Updates shouldnāt be released until theyāre properly tested. Clearly, even if things are tested, theyāre not picking up key elements that users find as soon as they jump into their favorite aircraft.
So, I give up. This isnāt fair.
You give me a sim that works, and Iāll be the most-loyal, most engaging user who will be a cheerleader for the team and the product publicly. Yet, that isnāt the case.
Thank you for ruining another holiday weekend that I had set aside time to fly. Now I canāt fly. Again.
I hope devs are also finding time to fly this weekend. Perhaps they will discover these glitches too.
I just hope we donāt have to wait weeks/months for fixes.
Thanks for reading, and I hope this will translate into actionable fixes that really work this time round.
If not, I fear that I will relegate MSFS to the recycle bin for the foreseeable future, and this may sound like Iām whining, but if you could experience the depth of frustration and perplexity that I have toward this sim, youād appreciate the significance of that statement.
Iām clearly not alone in this regard. Reputations are hard to get back once theyāre gone.
Best,
John
Viewpoints to which I have some empathy John!
and of course it gets flagged and silenced
I donāt know what I said that was offensiveā¦some feedback would have been helpful. Maybe thereās a bad word in there, I donno. Have to wait 10 mins to edit it. Ridiculous.
maybe move it to general discussion
Maybe read the forum CoC
Nothing really offensive, why are posts getting flagged just because they are not praising the sim for its outstanding quality for VFR flight in a Cessna around non-photogrammetry locations?
Iāve been reading this forum since day one, many people here behave as if MSFS were a freeware open source product. It is not and itās a mess and it shouldnāt be.
Iāve done my share of complaining on here, but never got flagged. Maybe I used a bad word or something. Iām just going to write a new, longer and deeper rant instead.
Itās likely being flagged because itās a complaint, not a bug report.
Now, if there was a Complaint section, the sheer number of posts in there would probably bring Azure to itās knees, then no one could fly.
Post your rant in General Discussions. Just a suggestion.
Continuosly opening new threads with generic complaints will not do any good and will only frustrate everybody.
Open a zendesk ticket for any of the issues you found on your system, that is the only way to ensure your complaint will reach Asobo.
I donāt understand it either. Maybe time for MS to think switching to another studioā¦ my 2 cents for success
Maybe it goes in general but bugs & issues certainly fits for a customer describing his/her issues.
Seriously the OP is not ranting about the MCDU not being able to do holds, he is listing issues that are basic.
