A History of MSFS Aircraft

Does anyone have a list of all aircraft included in previous FS releases? This is something I’ve been curious about since the 40th anniversary. I know Concorde was in there at one point.

I know FSX, the default aircraft was the 172. Was this always the case since 1982?

Yup, I think so.

Pretty sure that one was the 182 Skylane with retractable gear.

Other aircraft from previous MSFS versions I remember include the Learjet, Sopwith Camel and Boeing 747.

I managed to find and compile a complete list from the Flight Sim Wikia and various published reviews from computer gaming magazines, Wikipedia pages, and in some cases FS manuals and boxes themselves. I’ll list them here.

I remember flying that version 1.0 Sopwith Camel, it had a mini map with wire frame mountains.

No it was the C182RG.

It was the C182 until FSX I think, when they changed it to the C172.

I tried to recreate it a bit for the anniversary. The panel unfortunately is not animated though.

I believe the seaplane was also the C182 floatplane. I don’t remember using it at all though.
The ‘Create your own airplane’ aircraft was the ‘F20 Tigershark’, but really it looked just like an F5.
