A new $2000 computer isnt enough!

These are my specs…I’m getting single digit FPS in heavier areas…

Core i7-13700KF 3.4GHz 16C/24T 30Mb TRAY
Geforce RTX 3070 Ti 8 GB GDDR6X HDMI 3DP
32GB DDR4-3200 PC4-25600

Although below ideal specs, they are above recommended.
I just installed Pisa and I couldn’t even run it, the performance was unflyable…
Reducing the setting to low doesn’t make a difference

Does my internet speed have anything to do with frame rates?
My CPU was only at 20% when the game was bogging down.

Turn down your graphics settings until it is playable. I have a much lower spec PC and it runs great, but I have to have a mix of ultra/high/med settings to achieve that. I also don’t run any AI traffic.

My specs are lower than yours and the apps and data are on 7200 rpm hard drives. I don’t have the problem you describe. My settings are mostly on ultra with a few on high. Something seems wrong with your configuration or set up or hardware. What graphics settings are you using and on what monitor(s)?

You might run through this list of settings, although it seems to me there is some other problem with your system: . (Recommended Settings - FlyByWire Simulations Documentation)

Have you noticed any other unusually slow apps on your new system?

Are you running Windows 10 or 11? Hard drive or ssd? Capacities?

My 3 yr old rig is as follows.
Noctua NH-U12A CPU Cooler
Deepcool Matrexx 55 V3 ADD-RGB 3F Black E-ATX Case
Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD
Gigabyte Z490 AORUS ULTRA Motherboard
Intel Core i7 10700K
Gigabyte AORUS AP750GM 750W 80 PLUS Gold Power Supply
Lexar NM610 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD
DeepCool CF120 120mm Addressable RGB PWM Fan, 3 Pack, A-RGB Controller
Gigabyte AORUS GeForce RTX 3060 Ti MASTER 8GB Video Card…
Windows 10 Pro.

Depending where I am I run anywhere from low 20’s and very rarely high teens up to 50 to 55 FPS.A mix of Ultra to high.Low for the glass cockpit refresh rate. I do a lot of IFR flight with Little navmap running,FLTL running and Volanta. I do get micro stutters though and maybe 1 out of 20 flights, the game crashes but I live with it.

Same graphics card and RAM as you but slower CPU than yours and getting 45 fps with ULTRA settings at 1440p.

What resolution are you running ? Are you in VR ?

Turning down all settings to low gives me maybe 2-3 more fps…My system shreds P3D V4.5 all maxed out.

This is the same thing with FSX where I get +60 fps as long as I’m in a simple plane and nowhere near a city!

I will have to research my other specs and I’ll post them. I know my drive is 1TB NV2 NVMe M.2 SSD, and OS is W11. My monitor is a ■■■■ low end TV monitor which should be easy on performance I think?.. But I checked my internet speed and it was a shockingly low 24 mbps…Does that have anything to do with it?

I use to play on that and it was fine. Even if not, you’d get a notice about being switched to offline mode. This isn’t your problem.

I’m guessing you were looking at the task manager or something similar showing total processor utilization. With gaming, it’s common to only hammer one core, while the others are lightly loaded, which can show up as a light total cpu load even if that is the bottleneck

You definitely should be doing better, though. Try turning developer mode on in the settings. It’ll show a new toolbar at the top and one of the settings (I think in the windows tab, but not at the computer to double check) will have an option to display the fps. When that screen pops up, it’ll show the frame times of the CPU and GPU, and indicate which one you are limited by. Telling us that info, or screenshoting and posting it will tell us where to start looking.

If you have anything in your community folder, that should be moved out temporarily just to rule out any third party conflicts.

Hi, Im ashamed and surprised at this topic.

My specs are
MSI Z480 MB
I5 4.1GHZ 10th Gen processor
32MB DDR4 30000 RAM, 4 x 8
Coughs loudly
Geforce GTX 980 Ti 6GB (Game screen)
Geforce GTX 980 4GB (Work Screens)
2TB M.2 WD SSD Main drive
2TB M.2 Crucial P5 Game storage drive
2TB M.2 Crucial P5 Work drive.
1 x Acer 27" HDMI 4.1 gaming screen 1ms
2 x Asus 27" VX270 work screens
Corsair 1000W PSU
zero fancy leds in the machine all turned off in bios

I can and do run MSFS on High settings and hold a constant 60 fps, old eyes couldnt recognise anything higher.
So far I havent come across any screen tearing or stutter even on the busy airports. So how you guys with super high end graphics are having problems may well be the temperature gradients set in your cooling systems, I use air, wouldnt put liquid anywhere near my machine. Fans are all set to hit full cooling 100% at 70 deg c (Qfan)
My G Cards both run around 50 deg C when working and the Ti runs at a modest 65 deg C whilst in MSFS (Use HWMonitor to keep an eye on everything)
I would recommend running a temp monitor program if you have one or at least use the temp monitors in Task Manager / Performance at least to check whats going on heat wise.
Only issue I get with MSFS is the constant driver updating, get the your video cards are junk or your drivers are outdated every few days. Reinstall the drivers and all is good.
Carpet under your computer, stand it on a flat surface, overturned tray or a plank of wood is ideal dont block the underside heat venting, dont block the rear venting, at least 10 " behind your PC to allow access and adequate air flow.
Humungous Graphics cards (3000 4000 series use the support brackets provided and make sure your wiring looms are not blocking air flow. Clean the dust filter monthly front, side and benath machine,
I hope these tips on heat removal help thoise in need.

Ouch. I got a new laptop last year in Oct and paid just under $1200 and the only noticeable thing different about yours is that you have 32GB. I just spent $100 and have upgraded my RAM to 32 now, so call it $1300. Even with higher end sceneries I don’t dip below 20-25 FPS and that’s with AI up the ying yang and weather on. Either you got some funky parts or the rep at the store ripped you.

Please make sure, that you have the correct Chipset-drivers for your mainboard installed! usually you will find several drivers for your mainboard on the support-website of the mainboard manufacturer. download them and install them. Windows 10 will run perfectly fine without them , but it makes a difference when you use your system for gaming ! Same goes for the BIOS .

see if you can make sense of this…

Problem 100% solved!
I turned of FXAA antialiasing in nvidia control panel.
Thank you for pointing me to looking at the “limited by” message. I looked up rdr thread and found that its the FXAA setting.

Now I dont get anything under 40 fps no matter what I throw at it.

Thanks again!
