Recently I have been deeply attracted by the history of Schneider Trophy and those magnificent aircraft involved. Through the course of 18 years and 12 competitions, the human race for the first time quested their desire and capability for speed in the air. The competition not only witnessed the ever-developing aviation technology, but also how the Great War and nationalism re-shaped the fundamental purposes of aeronautic technology.
I suppose such a precious piece of history relating to aviation deserves its place in MSFS, as players from all around the world can have their opportunity to feel and experience the Golden Age of aviation. I believe the rough, or even wild handling qualities and immense speed of these historical seaplane racers can also provide with players great joy in flight. On 22 Oct 2023, a Fiat AS.6 24-sylinder race engine built for the Schneider Trophy was revived again, at the very location where it was installed into a Macchi MC.72 racer 89 years ago. The event is part of the 100th anniversary of Italian Airforce celebration, also marks the 110th anniversary for the very first Shneider Trophy competition in 1913. I really consider this is the best time for us to honor those who spared their passion, technology, wealth, and even lives for one more mile per hour in the sky.
Personally I would wish to see racers from Supermarine, Macchi and Curtiss in MSFS, this may include Supermarine S.6, Macchi M.39/52/67/72, and Curtiss R3C. I would also wish to see some of the most famous race location sceneries recreated in the magnificent environment MSFS has created.
