A small bit of advice for mounting a Liquid cooler

Always mount at top of Case. Mounting on the side with hoses up will shorten the life of the pump and will make the pump louder as it has to work harder moving liquid up and down. Whereas a top mounted setup will reduce the forces of pushing up and down to a minimum while the rad flows back and forth on a level plain.

That’s not how physics works. Only pushing liquid up makes the pump work harder however there is a syphon effect caused by the downward flow trying to create a vacuum behind it.

I stand corrected. I made the change. Splitting hairs if you ask me but you are right.

Yup the actual reason coolers should be above the cpu … that air only accumlates at the top of the loop means that the pump stays wet at all times.

Think I’ll stick with air.

That’s a really good awesomeness point. Some Rads like the one I use have the pump mounted in the Rad instead of the CPU sparing the pump components the excessive heat generated by the CPU, which by all accounts should make the pump last longer due to less heat. Now if could just get my beer to chill itself…

Self chilling beer cans that worked by venting pressurised CO2 rapidly from a receptacle inside the can itself were actually a thing but never took off, probably due to cost and health and safety concerns about beer cans containing pressurised gas.

We are getting a bit off topic here though.
