Wow guys today I have had one of the most intense flights in the sim ever. I would like to explain why and see what others think. This was undoubtable bad piloting on my behalf but I have learnt a lot. I gained my PPL IRL a good few years ago, but I dont fly any more and I never got to do my Instrument rating. However I have never experienced VMC into IMC like this before, as I said bad piloting on my behalf I should of turned back.
So the route was LEFR to EGMD across the English channel in the default 172 G1000 .
Start of the flight was good, bad weather above me.
At this point I should have turned back or diverted, Bad piloting. But I pressed on. Thinking I could fly below it, and ATC would not clear me to 4000 (Using Pilot2ATC)
No w things are taking a turn for the worst, I decide to go IFR and request an IFR plan, I’m on the look out for weather and I approaching the English channel. Again bad piloting.
Now I’m getting Icing and its building up fast. Within in the next 5 mins by air speed drops I get the stall warning, I recover from the stall, ATC screaming I am off course and not at my ALT. You cant really declare an emergency in Pilot2ATC or not that I can see, any I recover and continue. Light pink on the nextrad means Light freezing rain…
Finally I break the cloud and shoot the ILS at EMGD
All ends well I make the landing I could see the Runway from 10nm out and made the landing.
What I learnt from this is:
Never underestimate the weather and MSFS models weather and icing mostly very well.
That was one intense flight.
Thanks for reading, feedback welcome!
