Hi everyone. I’ve got a problem with the A310 in MSFS2024 - when I spawn into the aircraft for free flight the engines are running but all the screens and gauges are blank. I can interact with the switches but not the flight controls or throttles. Nothng I do will bring any of the screens to life.
I recall I had this problem in MSFS2020 but it was resolved by selecting an earlier date in free flight to get around an AIRAC issue I believe. Trying the same thing doesn’t help me at all this time though. I’ve searched the forums but haven’t found any similar reports. Does anyone have any ideas?
Based on your explanation, it sounds like you’re spawning in with the aircraft already powered up and running.
What happens if you load into it Cold & Dark and then power it up yourself?
What platform are you on: PC or Xbox?
EDIT:
I just loaded C&D into the A310 and I cannot get it to power up, at all. I turned on all three battery switches and nothing. I turned on External Power and nothing.
All I have lit is the External Power switch and this:
Yes I get the same in cold and dark. Likewise, I also can’t turn on the batteries, although the buttons will appear to depress and click, nothing happens. Same with External Power as per your comment. And it seems I can’t interact at all with any of the controls on the centre console (throttle, fuel cocks, parking brakes etc).
I’m on PC. All other aircraft seem fine.
And, weirdly, I seem to have the same problem again in my current FS2020 installation - exactly the same issue there. Can’t say how long it has been like that in FS2020 as I haven’t used the A310 for a few months. The FS2024 insatllation however, is brand new as of about 12 hours ago.
It looks like it is bugged, for whatever reason.
Same here, I tested it yesterday and wasted 20 min.
I gave up, I reinstalled MSFS and I will use the old sim until 24 is fixed.
Ditto for me:
After latest update in December 2024, (MSFS Steam on PC) issues with A310 and A310 Advanced. No longer able to see any data on screens, all screens are black. It appears the plane is flying “cold and dark”. EFB no longer allows you to change status such as “on gpu”, “on apu”, etc. Uninstalled and reinstalled A310 and A310 enhanced. All other aircraft are fine. There are no mods downloaded to delete. This occurs every time the aircraft is loaded and does not matter if starting the flight (a) at the gate; (b) on the runway; or (c) in the air. I am not using “developer mode”.
[PC, MSFS 2020 Only] Are you using DX11 or DX12?
DX11
[PC Only] What GPU (Graphics Card) do you use?
3060ti
I had the same problem yesterday. I searched for solutions in old forum threads and after some time found a solution. The problem is related to the obsolescence of the navigation database and is circumvented by setting the date in the simulator before launching the flight to December 25 or earlier. This problem already occurred at the end of December 2023 and was solved either by updating the simulator or by updating the A310 (I don’t remember exactly).
I tried this just now, but it made no difference.
I also installed Navigraph and tried it with their navdata and it made no difference, either.
I set the date to Dec 24th, then started the flight and the a310 works.
Note that navdata is valid through December 26, although there is a message “nav accur upgraded”
How odd.
I tried this and it didn’t work.
Do I need to set it to Dec 24 specifically?
I tired a number of dates earlier than what is current and it made no difference.
To make sure I understand, you’re changing the date at the World Map under Flight Conditions?
Yes, at the World Map under Flight Conditions.
I checked the dates 27nov, 20dec, 24dec 2024 - they work.
25,26,27dec don’t work.
27 dec 2023 don’t work.
And to make sure, you’re using 2024 or 2020?
I’m stupid! 2020! And this topic is about 2024…
You’re not stupid. The way the forum is organized makes it pretty easy to get topics crossed when discussing sim generations.
I’m glad we sorted it, though. I was going a little batty trying your suggestion and getting nowhere!
Agree, when I was searching the forums for a solution I found it almost impossible to understand whether the topic related to 2020 or 2024.
I do have both installed currently. I can confirm changing the date to 24 Dec works for me with the 2020 A310, but not in the 2024 version. I’ve tried multiple dates/years but with no luck, which seems odd as the problem (at least on the face of it) seems to be the same.
I did try removing the two items I have in the Community folder (it’s a pretty new installation so there wasn’t much in there) and it worked. I put the two items back and it didn’t work again. Assuming one of those may have been the problem I tried removing them just one at a time, but with no luck. Now even if I clear the Community folder out again it’s back to not working. Honestly, I’m going batty as well trying to understand this!
I concur, I have the same issue. This was a known bug in 2020, I believe they fixed it. Now they have broken it again. Not a surprise. Can’t fly the Airbuses as the screens are all white. So let’s try the A310. Can’t fly that, it’s got no power… any more you want to break Asobo?
I have the same dead cockpit problem in the FA-22 Raptor in MSFS 2024. It’s crazy I’ve tried everything.
Isn’t the Raptor a 3rd party add-on? I wouldn’t expect 3rd party add-ons to function 100% yet — especially if bought via the Marketplace where known updates to 3rd party add-ons haven’t made their way to the Marketplace yet. What does the developer of the Raptor have to say about 2024 compatiblity?
In the case of the A310, it’s an included aircraft in the base sim and it isn’t functioning. That is far more grievous issue since it’s Microsoft’s responsibility to see their product works as intended.
I see on the IniBuilds forum that they’re looking into it as well - the suspect is the AIRAC update which occurred on 26 December which would at least go some way towards explaining why the problem affects both 2020 and 2024. It’s a little frustrating that this issue has come up again, hopefully they get it sorted a little more permanently this time.
I have been using the A310 a ton in MSFS2020 and always starting from cold & dark. After installing the December 20 update on 12/30 after vacation, the GPU can not be turned off on the tablet, and as mentioned power supplies do not work even if they appear like they may be working (like ext power).
If you go up to the electrical panel and select the various AC & DC busses, none of them have any power regardless of configuration. This is probably why the screens won’t boot up and the ISDU indications will not light up after turning them on.
Another quirky thing I have noticed is the altimiter on the Captain’s side sometimes has a red bar in it stating “Off” which is not normal and also usually goes away if you restart the flight.
I use Xbox Series X.
Unfortunately I have no way to change those dates on Xbox on the world screen.
