I’ve finally got into the A310 and have done a few flights via Sim Brief pretty successfully but sometimes when inputting SID’s and STAR’s into the flight plan I get a discontinuity error.
Looking at the actual flight plan route on the PFD I can see where the discontinuity is as the white line (route) ends, if a scroll further out, as can see where the route continues.
What do I need to do in the MCDU to correct these discontinuities?
Not all discontinues should be removed. They may be part of the arrival procedure.
Check the FlyByWire A320 online manual. They have a great section devoted to discontinuities.
Is the A320 manual relevant to the A310..?
Clear the discons if they are mid route, the waypoints will align, and if not check your flightplan. Most ATC would vector you to the LOC after the Discontinuity at the bottom of your STAR. So thats usually when ill just enter a “direct” to the top of the LOC. Reference your charts, there may be a transition you can take. Otherwise just vector yourself the way ATC would according to the chart.
If your unsure of the pattern entry, a really great quick tool to reference is Flightradar. it will show you the live pattern at whichever airport you choose.
