Well, thanks for the answer. This really seems to work, I only loaded into the cold & dark airplane and switched on the batteries and the thing came to live. Control inputs were accepted as well.
Alas, since I only fly in real time the A310 remains bricked.

It’s been driving me insane… I’ve reinstalled the sim… twice… bought a new hard drive and now have a fresh Windows install - and all it required was to have the date put back!
