Two methods as @carlanthony24 mentioned (with added information regarding the extended centerline):
- delete all waypoints that you are probably not going to overfly, which in most cases would be all waypoints prior to the faf or
- more elegant: use the direct-to-radial in method. Pick a waypoint on the extended centerline as your direct-to waypoint and enter the reciprocal course into the radial-in field. This way all waypoints other than those after the one you selected get deleted and you’ll get an extended centerline from the chosen fix for situational awareness. However, after doing so you’ll have to revert to HDG mode as well.
