[A319, A320, A321] Fenix High-Fidelity Aircraft

Check the ACMS APU shut down report 34

Where can I find the ACMS APU shut down report?

Anyone tried the Fenix in SU10 Beta yet? Interested to know if there are any major issues before trying the beta.

I read a couple of posts this morning talking about a tendency to overspeed in AP, maybe linked to an apparent issue with the throttles.

I’d be checking that the Beta update hadn’t somehow messed with my bindings, but will be waiting for the live release of SU10, as I’ve had enough of testing, officially at least.

Thanks - I was going to do the same, but some of the updates look really interesting - DX12 improvements, DLSS etc - so considering giving it a go.

Fenix A320 overspeed + AP issues with SU10 - Sim Update 10 BETA / 3rd Party Mods - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums is the thread i’d remembered reading.

Beside this “overspeed” cruise altitude level issues, Fenix with DX12 is one of the best experience i had so far in any flight sim. First time Ground Handling procedure , taxi and take off is so smooth , with out a single stutter even in low fps of 30-40s ( compared with SU9 stuttering ground issues). DX12 spreads the work to more cores as predicted + huge amount of Vram and ram usage ( at last ) on GPU.
If you want to use ultra settings in London or NY with DX12 you will need for sure an RTX3090

well as someone like 2-4hrs flights mainly because I like the plane to be heavy and with reasonable fuel when landing, so fueling it up with full pax and luggage feesl great, but one thing you can do in the sim but not IRL is that I can go for a lunch nap, switch back to desktop for some music and web browsing and let the copilot handle all the routine communications

So fo full load island hops in the Canary Islands and do only non-precision approaches.

did those quite often TBH, but then if fuel is full also the landing weight messed up, so with computer powerful enough I usually just leave the plane in medium long route in background

Why land with near full fuel?

Most airliners only land with divert +45 to 60min worth of fuel (obviously weather dependant), unless tankering fuel for subsequent legs.

Cant agree more! I cant start it on COLD & DARK anymore, baterries went crazy / APU as well.
did everything i could to make it work ( deleted mod added the last week, reinstalled fenix 5x! )

nothing came.

I will wait the next update

Well, safe to say I’ve never had a worse flight to date.
Started with the APU doing this emergency shutdown (funny how that’s been getting reported, then it happens to me). Finally got going by cycling BAT1 & 2 - where did that come from?

On approach to EGLL, the AP then kept going off. Got it ‘to the runway’ but couldn’t control it.
Deadzones all at 5% and apart from very early calibration days, have had no issues.
I’m off outside, it’s a nice sunny day :joy:

whats going on with this plane!!

At this point I’m reserving judgement on any apparent coincidence with the APU.
This was my first Fenix flight since buying the Tobii 5.
Not saying it was that either, it’s just… this has been the first flight since a change in the sim environment.

It could be that, due to Tobii cockpit movement, I miss-set BAT 1 or BAT 2. Who knows!
As for the AP going off, it did that a week ago, although straightening up got it back on and away.
The AP going off happened on the ALES1H EGLL/BIG.I27L approach. I hit LS 1 and then 2 on my x-touch as it was making the first turn, and off went AP. Bank rate? Who knows! It recovered on the ILS final, but then the AP went bye bye again.

A simmer’s life.

Hmmmm na I am going to delay this update. Bought the Fenix two days ago or so and it´s to risky getting various cockpit systems and features broken now by the newest sim update - with new problems so complex that it probably takes a month or so to fix.

The Fenix is currently more important than testing some new SU…

Yes I have noticed that the APU sometimes cannot be started anymore without showing any damage or maintenance necessary in the diagnostics tool.
The APU air inlet door is opening but it will not start.

On the other hand I was able to start it without any problems when simulating the birdstrike on both engines to see if the RAT is functioning just like in a real Airbus.

edit:
I have had some problems switching off the two batteries.
Only after connecting to ground power I was able to switch off both batteries (with both OFF lights active).
But it was impossible to fully shut down the aircraft in a different way, the other one of the two batteries always came on when switching one of the two battery switches on or off. Some autopilot and other cockpit elements were always active and lit up.

Is there a specific procedure in the Fenix to switch off both batteries without first connecting ground power, switching off both batteries, and disconnecting ground power to have a fully powered down cold and dark cockpit?

Stupid question about the Fenix: how do you close the cockpit windows?
I realized they can be opened (no problem when on ground) by clicking on a lever by the window. But, I was unable to find the way to close. No matter where I clicked, window did not close, or just opened more.
And, worst of all, with the window open the EFB touchscreen is not clickable anymore so your EFB is dead…
I am sure there is some spot to click to close the window, but I could not find it…
I tried only in VR, but it should be the same in pancake mode…

Cockpit sliding window : Opening and closing A320 Family - YouTube might help you to locate the click spot

But you can probably leave it open in summer when flying not higher than 8000 feet.

In what position is the throttle lever during automatic flight with autopilot thrust control?

Fully forward is TOGA, behind TOGA is FLX-MCT, CL for Climb thrust, and the area between idle and climb is labelled “A/THR” for autothrust - which means in normal flight conditions the throttle lever is set somewhere between idle and climb while the autopilot flies?

You have to set “cold & dark” startup using the fenix EFB first. Make sure you also start the feinx app before you select the aircraft, then load the aircraft. It will reset itself to cold & dark. Even if you forget to do it, once you load the aircraft, you can still start the fenix app and it will start cold & dark if you’ve pre-selected and saved the selection in the fenix EFB
