The beta testers seem to be all over VATSIM so that must count for something working
I know you guys are optimizing this bird right down to frame latency and using every trick but I really hope she performs well and it’s not another lag liner. Good luck guys it looks absolutely amazing!
I’m not too concerned about performance with the Fenix compared to other addons such as PMDG.
Running the plane/systems outside MSFS.exe should hopefully mean that MSFS main core will not be ‘bogged down’.
I recall that they did mention performance many months ago and they showed that it performs the same as the default A320 and better than the FBW.
If she wants more performance it will get the hardware she truly deserves
And what do we have here, a laptop in the cockpit.
I can´t wait for the first modder bringing Doom onto said laptop (I have seen coders run this game literally everywhere, on displays of printers on smartphones and various other devices.)
And finally the question about what to do during long haul flights will be answered for once and for all when a SNES emulator runs on this laptop.
The possibilities are endless…
Just kidding - I hope this laptop will bring the same features as the PMDG Cloudmaster and the Hotstart Challenger have, for example interesting engine stats and bringing all the gorgeous details explained in the Fenix YouTube videos a little bit more to live on special screens dedicated to these simulated features.
Less terrified about the performance (which is still going to be … problematic, given the level of detail in the visual modeling) and more about stability. MSFS.exe doesn’t particularly like having externally running code injected.
With the hardware of 2022 and the new 12GB+ VRAM GeForces and superb Ryzens no level of detail no texture no amount of polygones is “problematic” A script enhancer will be the only way to run custom code to bypass all the superstrict DRM DLL / closed source codes that would otherwise all more sophisticated cockpit features simply impossible.
It performs worse than stock but better than FlybyWire. That is to be expected as the stock plane is very basic as far as CPU usage goes. However they have some tricks with multi GPU support too which in theory should help bridge that gap. I have no idea if this bird supports Nano VG but I know the devs are optimizing right down to frame latency and making sure things are as optimized as they can be.
Hardware is irrelevant with the state of this sim…
That is just false heh. Sim has plenty of issues but when working correctly it still very much matters
to a degree yes but people with the latest CPUs and GPUs arent exactly having a smooth experience are they?
You can only make that GPU spit out more frames if your CPU is fast enough to feed them and these planes are all made so differently all using different tricks of the trade. Combine that with the sim itself and it’s own issues and it also very much depends on what you fly and where you fly in the sim and even what apps you run in the background.
GPU is far from the issue, its the utilization of the single core which is the problem so “getting your GPU tp spit out more frames” is nonsense… DX12 hopefully will improve this but being main thread limited with a 12900k is BS if you ask me.
Of course it depends on where you fly and what apps you use in the backround. everyone knows this but when you strip everything back and it still runs like muck what else can one do.
Your either CPU limited or your not. The sim most certainly uses multiple CPU cores.
Not very effectively… 90% of the load goes on 1 core. so Yes, it is heavily reliant one a single core.
Nothing wrong with a good old Intel Pentium IV if only one core is necessary ;D
Not a PC owner, but isn’t this product a little bit redundant? The FBW 320 seems pretty bloody comprehensive to me. Perhaps the failure scenarios aren’t going to be up to the same standard, but the systems modelling does, from what I’ve seen. And, it’s free, isn’t it? How much is this going to cost? A lot, I’m guessing.
Many people want the A320 ceo with wingtip fences and full systems depth, so its a great compliment to the FBW. I like flying realistic routes with the right aircraft on Vatsim so for me this will be needed to fly routings I currently can’t. Just like the PMDG 737-700/ -800 / -900 they fill different roles and have different weights and performance characteristics so all 3 are a great option.
Now having 3 different PC-6’s from 3 different developers is redundant but hey its nice to have options. I wish someone else would make a study level Twin Otter to compete with the sub-par AS offering.
Not if someone likes to build retro PC´s.
Yes the FlyByWire Airbus is of course great. But unfortunately is has a texture bug on the overhead panel that cannot be corrected which triggers my OCD that´s why I cannot fly it anymore.
That´s a personal OCD problem of me: As soon as I notice visual bugs I loose all joy and interest in a game because the immersion is getting broken (this happened for example in Horizon Forbidden West after having noticed that the tail fin of the coral seawater fish swimming around the collectible underwater plants is bugged and it´s tailfin is not correctly mounted to the rear end of the fish´s body but hoovering two inches behind the fish body. I have already contacted Guerilla Games but they refuse to patch. Only while active in the CD Project Red forums all my bugs listed were carefully patched in Witcher 3, this usually never happens in all other games.)
But the Fenix Airbus will be absolute perfection with no visual glitches that disturb the absolute escapism and immersion into the Matrix.
Look what we have here! Is this reflection a RTX Raytracing feature? Does the Fenix Airbus support raytracing?
That looks disgustingly good lol. I want to render the screens on my 8600K built in GPU and leave the 1080ti 11GB to handle the rest. HOPING in this config my CPU can feed the GPU fast enough to spit out 60 FPS in 1080p with a decent heat level
Been a while since I updated the Intel chipset drivers though so I am curious how it handles the onboard GPU. Recently Windows tried to force some new Intel drivers on me so I know there is a new build out but I am going to probably just try and McGuiver it lol
