A320 takeoff speed

Hi

I guess there are lot of variables with this but what is the general speed at which to start raising the aircraft.

I normally start to takeoff when I’m around 140-150knots, but I notice something on the left side at top of the speed indicator on the display in pink which when I last looked said 157, is this the number I need to reach for takeoff?

Thanks

I’m pretty sure Vr (the rotation speed - where you pull back on the stick) on an A320 is about 115kts.

It sounds like you haven’t set the flaps or elevator trim to get the aircraft into the air at the right speed… i.e. you’re going too fast.

I don’t fly the A320, but typically 1 or 2 stages of flap and between 2 and 3 degrees of elevator trim (nose up) will get you up at a more relaistic speed.

Hi,

A typical A320 VR (Rotation Speed) ranges between about 130-150kts. There are a wide range of factors that affect this, including:

Gross Weight
CG
Headwind/Tailwind
Air Pressure (QNH)
Temperature
Runway Length
Runway Wet/Dry/Contaminated

A computerised performance calculation is completed before departure.

As a rough estimate, I use 140kts for V1, VR and V2 when conducting sim practice.

Thanks both.

The computer calculation is something I haven’t done before on the onboard computers, I presumed it was automatic if I set up a flight plan from the world map.

I normally set my flaps to position 1 at takeoff.

So is the VR speed indicator the correct info to use to raise the aircraft, if everything is set correctly?

Thanks

Yep, v1 is decision speed, followed by rotate (Vr)

160 to 180 for me.
