I know there was a note about this issue, either in the release notes, or part of the Dev Q&A. I think these issues are related to shortcomings of whatever chosen programming language Inibuilds uses. I say this because other default planes are able to use keyboard input, communicate flight plans with ATC, etc.

Each developer has their own expertise in whatever languages, and each language has pros and cons how it works (or doesn’t work) with the sim, etc, etc.

It seems Navigraph / PMDG ran into a similar keyboard input limitation on the UFT tablet in the PMDG 737 on Xbox.

In their announcement from April 15 (showing the new ability to show Navigraph Charts and import Simbrief flight plans in to the UFT tablet in the PMDG 737 on Xbox), they say this:

The PMDG UFT will not accept input from the Xbox keyboard. We resolve this by using the UFT keyboard to input letters and numbers into the UFT. You can enable the On Screen Keyboard from the General Preferences tab.

But once you know not to use the native Xbox on-screen keyboard that pops up, and just dismiss it from screen, it’s easy to use the tablet’s on-screen keyboard.

Check thanks for the info, I tried once more and
it worked! The previous time I tried it didn’t work out. I assume because i’ve tried using the xbox keyboard input first, before trying the EFB-keyboard. Happy it works now tho! ^^

a320 v2. im unable to get my simbrief plan to go over to the tablet so that it can get the information from the table to the fmc. i clicked simbrief and download simbrief but nothing imported. is this an issue or can someone give me a solution. XBOX SERIES X

Import in to the EFB and FMC is separate (or at least partially separate):

To import from Simbrief in to the EFB, on the EFB:

  • Options > enable on-screen keyboard
  • Click in the Simbrief Username field
  • ** DISMISS ** the native Xbox on-screen keyboard - entering the Simbrief username with the native Xbox on-screen keyboard appears to populate the field properly, but it doesn’t work

  •
Use the EFB on-screen keyboard to enter your Simbrief username
  • Then you should be able to import the Simbrief flight plan, weights, etc

You also have to enter your Simbrief username on the FMC:

  • Press the MCDU MENU button
  • Press the ATSU softkey
  • Type your Simbrief username in the scratch pad
  • Press the softkey next to the Simbrief username field
  • Go back, press MCDU Menu
  • Press the FMGC softkey to get back to the main FMC pages

I hope that helps

thanks I’ll give it a try

Additional to the steps by @GimbalAxis the only info that transfer from the tablet to the FMC is:

  • Weight and Balance.
  1. import in the tablet from simbrief.
  2. click on “Apply load”.
  • TO calculation data.
  1. Run your numbers and calculate
  2. Select send to FMGS
  3. Go to the FMC and “Confirm TO data” in the PERF page to populate.

You need to enter the SimBrief User ID#, not the name, in both the EFB options and the ATSU menu in the MDCU.

In my case MCDU and EFB both demanded my Pilot ID

Yes. Since 1.37.16.0 only Pilot ID works. See the post above yours.

Pilot ID it is. Thanks.

Having the same issue despite following the solution steps

For the EFB didi you use the EFB popup keyboard? The Xbox one doesn’t; work so you have to close that one and there should be another black one. Might have to be enabled in EFB settings.

The simbrief facility does not work at all on XBox. Very disappointing. Please can someone help?

Enter your Pilot ID instead of username.
