A320 When to use EXPED mode?

At the moment i am just doing managed descents/climbs in the A32NX however i noticed that you can also press the EXPED (expedite ?) button to do the same thing. In most videos i watch people never use this button which makes me wonder what its used for in the real world ? Does it get you to your desired altitude quicker ?

do most a320 pilots in the real world use managed descent/climb rather than manually inputting a VS speed or FPA angle ?

Also what is the point of the LOC button when every approach i do LOC automatically kicks in when within range ?

Apparently it is practically never used (EXPED). The aircraft will climb at green dot speed instead of the managed climb speed. Would result in a very steep climb.

Also I would say yes most Airbus pilots are using the managed or selected modes for the most part and only VS situationally and as far as I’m aware FPA is mainly used for approaches.

LOC button is for capturing a localiser only, might be useful if the GS is out or something else.

as you must have noticed in your flight from yesterday ( precision approach in EKVG ),unlike rwy30 that is equipped with full ILS ( LOC+GS), they don’t have ILS on rwy 12, but they Do have a LOC. But since this one is offset of 14°, there isn’t any GS, as the mountains/hills are too close to the GS path to make it safe enough. In stead, the pilot will follow LOC and do a 14° correction, upon final.
