A320NX Autoland Feature

Anyone know the secret to obtaining the version of the Fly-by-Wire mod that includes the autoland feature?

Completely delete any A320 folder from the community folder. Using the fbw installer, install the development version of the new stand alone fbw A320. You should now be able to activate both autopilots for an automatic landing.

The development version is not having an autoland feature. You need to install the experimental version to get it.

Yes, you are right. My mistake, it is the experimental version I am using. Note to self: don’t reply to the forum late at night!

Just remember autoland only works on cat II or III ILS’s, and you need to enable both autopilot buttons once established on localizer and glideslope. Pilot is still responsible for flaps and gear.

It does work excellent though!

One small addition: It does the job also with only one Autopilot engaged but it’s allowed usage is very restricted in terms of conditions due to missing redundancy and if everything is working there is no reason not to enable both.

In the sim? Because IRL ILS category doesn’t have anything to do with autoland from a technical POV.

Hmm, but isn’t it the case that there are also differences? Quality and accuracy of the ILS signal, terrain in front of the runway…etc

All true. What I meant with technical POV is, that if you choose to let the AP to perform an autoland, there’s nothing which prevents the AP from doing so.

On the other hand, no AP will be able to (reliable) perform an autoland even on a CAT III ILS if the sensitive area isn’t clear, preceding traffic is too close etc..

Thanks to all who replied. Just downloaded the experimental version and will give it a try.

Okay, I seem to have made a mess of things. Here is what happened. I loaded the Experimental version via the FlyByWire installer. Then I programmed a flight, but when I went to the aircraft, it had reverted to the MSFS stock mod – which of course is really awful after flying the NX. So I deleted the Experimental mod from my community folder and tried reinstalling it. Same result. Then, I deleted that and tried installing the Development mod (which I had been using previously). Same result. I repeatedly restarted MSFS as well. No change. So I am now stuck in Siberia! Can anyone give me a magic way to get out of this disaster?

Pick the appropriate aircraft. It’s now different from the Asobo A320. Have you done that?

Best regards
Alex

Do you mean in the aircraft selection process within the game?

I think that what he means, you go into aircraft selection, there should be two A320neo default and FBW A320

Don’t think so. Just had a look.

Choose the airliners filter and you should see the new plane installed as well as the original. 4 in all from memory - 2 Boeings and the 2 Airbus A320s

What you dont havectwo A320 in the selection.
Also check your community folder..see if FBW is in there

No luck with your kindly given suggestions. I think that my way out of this will be to reload the whole program.

Have you got FBW installer?

My suggestion delete anything FBW a320 in the community folder, download the installer..once downloed it will give you 3 versions stable dev and experimental..select your preference will install automatically. Load MSFS then FBW A320 should be there as well as the default
