As a newbie I’m really looking for some help on this one as I’m a bit stumped
Having spent the last few days working up from a cold start & working out how to program the FMC, I’ve finally got the A320v2 into the air & following my flight plan. However, it all went a bit wrong and was due to the heading selector which I could not cancel out so the aircraft completely flew off course. No matter what I tried to press on the button it just would not cancel out.
Is there a certain way of cancelling it so AP follows the programmed course? same also with the vertical speed button & the Speed button.
You need to push the knob in to activate LNAV. It looks like you are using “lock” mode, so I don’t remember the mouse button presses to activate a push. I use “legacy” so if I hover over the top of the knob, I see an up arrow, which means push.
You might also need to be close to your flight plan path for LNAV to activate. You could do a “DIRECT TO” you next waypoint, then push in the knob, and Bob’s Your Uncle…
You need to have managed mode (LNAV) enabled. The plane will automatically go into this mode with AP on if you’ve got it programmed into the MCDU correctly. I can try and record a small video tonight for you to show you how to do it as its much easier than trying to explain. There is a minor bug on the FMC that it doesn’t allow you to right click your mouse and go into managed mode, so you can get around this on the MCDU. Let me know if a small video would be useful.
Thanks for the replies.
I’ve been trying for days LOL to program a flight plan directly from MSFS into the new A320 which I think I’ve managed to do or at least I think I have.
I’m trying to fly from EGPH runway 24 to EGAA runway 25.
A vid would be great as I’m not sure how to enable LNAV or where or how to program that in.
My first flight seemed to be going well until I think I selected something I shouldn’t & then couldn’t cancel the heading so it just went way off course. Also speed seemed a bit fast at 340knts at 15000 even though auto thrust is selected.
ATC was also telling me to descend which I dialled into the AP panel but it just stayed at my cruising altitude 15000 but then I guess because I was way off the flight plan it wasn’t following anything as per the FMC?
Really struggling to enjoy it at the moment as its took me an age just to get it in the air.
Thanks
Mike

Thanks so much for taking the time to post that. I’ll give it another go and see how I get on.
Is there a push and pull method to those AP panel knobs as that is what i was also struggling with. Can only seem to highlight them as shown in my pic and turn them left or right.
Ok, just tried same flight again. Aircraft followed the flight plan but as ATC told be to descend to 4000 ft which I dialled in on the panel but the aircraft just stayed at level flight 12000 ft.
So as I couldn’t get it to descend it just flew above the glide scope as I couldn’t get the aircraft to descend.
Once I dial in a new altitude what should I be doing so it activates it ?
Push the altitude knob in to initiate a managed descent (will follow your VNAV path if applicable, respecting constraints), or pull the altitude knob to initiate an open descent (Descends on idle thrust and pitches to maintain speed, like FLCH on a Boeing).
Thanks for help folks. Just did same flight and the above seemed to work with regards to altitude. I finally did a flight from Edinburgh to Belfast and landed, taxied to the gate however, for some reason I had to fly it by dialling in the heading knob in order to follow my flight plan which was showing as a green dashed line.
For some reason I can’t get the heading knob to disengage and follow the inputted flight plan so I had to keep the plane roughly on track by following the green dashed line. So still something I’m not doing right.
I tried every combination on the mouse wheel/left/right buttons on the mouse but I couldn’t get the heading to stick to the actual plan.
For me it’s click on the knob with the left mouse button and keep that held down as you click the right to push ( that gives plane control if the AP is engaged). To pull the knob, click with the left button and keep it held down whilst you click the mouse wheel.
In the Neo V2 there is a slight bug where it wont let you go back into managed mode by right clicking on the heading. To get around this if your route is in the MCDU and you dont have a discontinuity in your flight plan. You can go to DIR and click on the first waypoint and then push the blue * to activate it and it puts the plane back into managed mode. I’ve touched on it in the video. Hope that helps.
Also remember the V2 version of the aircraft is a study aircraft, so it wont have the flight plan in the MCDU that you’ve put into the map when you start the flight, you have to plug that into the MCDU.
