Hi!
I’m not sure if this problem has been described elsewhere, I couldn’t find the answer to my problem. I apologize if there is an already existing topic.
I’m using the A32NX with custom autopilot and autothrust. When I’m given the approach and runway by the ATC, I insert the information in the computer, as usual clicking on the destination airport, selecting the runway and the transition point. When I click “insert”, the aircraft starts circling, and doesn’t follow the route anymore.
For now, I “solved” imposing the HDG, adjusting the route with the knob until I intercept the localizer and glideslope.
Do you have any tips to fly the approach in the way it should be flown?
Thank you very much
That’s probably because by the time you set the approach, you’re already passed the entry point of that STAR you selected, so the aircraft doubles back to go through the first waypoint before contiuing through the STAR. This has been an issue since day 1 last year. It’s not a new issue.
There’s two options that you can do here:
Select the STAR and Approach in your Flight Planning directly. That way, you don’t need to change anything, and the ATC always follows your flight plan.
Make sure you already have assigned a STAR in your flight plan. And when ATC assigns you the runway, you only need to select the Runway, without changing anything else. keep the same STAR. Hopefully the AP doesn’t think it’s entering a new STAR and continues on the existing STAR instead, preventing it to go back to the previous waypoint.
I guess with the MCDU.
I mean, I ask the ATC for the runway and approach, then I go in the FPLN, I select the airport and insert the transition given by the ATC.
When I insert it, the plane starts circling. I have understood that I have to select the next waypoint in the MCDU, that’s what I don’t know how to do.
