A330 engine textures need to be redone

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: The engine fans on the default A330, with all due respect, do not look good or accurate. The way that the shader interacts with the fan often results in the engine fan reflecting way too much light, making it appear way too bright, and often appearing very low quality/resolution. This is an issue that doesn’t show up at all on other iniBuilds planes, in 2020 or 2024.

This is pretty disappointing to me, because the A330 was the reason I purchased 2024 in the first place.

If applicable, which aircraft is experiencing this issue:

A330

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?

Yes, yes

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

Always

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Look at the A330 engines while they are running, and compare it to real-life pictures and when the engines are switched off in-game

YOUR SETTINGS

If the issue still occurs with no mods and add-ons, please continue to report your issue. If not, please move this post to the User Support Hub.

What peripherals are you using, if relevant: n/a

[PC Only] Are you using Developer Mode or have you made any changes to it?

[PC, MSFS 2020 Only] Are you using DX11 or DX12?

[PC Only] What GPU (Graphics Card) do you use?

[PC Only] What other relevant PC specs can you share?

MEDIA

Please add a screenshot or video of the issue occurring.

The GE version is especially bad, but the RR version has a similar issue:

In these screenshots, I am not using anything that would cause artifacting (frame gen, lossless scaling, etc.). This is just how they look out of the box

This issue is related to the shadows in exterior view issue. Please see here: Shadows inexistant in exterior views - #9 by Matze2541988

This problem doesn’t occur with drone camera, so Asobo needs to fix the shadows issue in exterior view which is related to the new aircraft modeling method for msfs2024.

This is a separate issue. The engines look the same when viewing in drone mode:

I don’t have that shadows issue that you’re linking to at all. You can see the shadows in my earlier screenshots.

Also, this issue is specific to the A330. Here is a screenshot of the A321 in identical conditions:

Still not great, but way better than the A330.

I see what you mean, but you do also have the shadows issue I mentioned from your earlier screenshots, the shadows in external view are a much lower resolution compared to drone camera.

I agree though the engine blades also reflect too much light and that it is a separate issue.

I would love to see the engines of the default Airbus A330 reworked. The animation as well as the textures of the engine spinner seems to be low quality. The engine textures seem to look somewhat flat and like a spinning disk.
Thank you!

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

Upon spawning in at night at a gate, setting the aircraft up, then pushback, go to wing view to see the ( in this case ) GE engine start up and spin… then… it disappears. the engine fan blades and the spinner disappear entirely. However, I taxi a bit, get away from the apron and the lights the apron has, get on the main taxiway and the fan blades and spinner show up again. I move my camera closer to the engine and see that it is transparant, I can see right through the engine blades and spinner spiral. Check during the day, it is there but also transparent. So… 1. the animated fan blade and spinner when the engine is on, goes transparent and you can see right through it. 2. at night, the apron lights affect the transparent engine blades and spinner to where it looks like its gone entirely.

If applicable, which aircraft is experiencing this issue:

A330-300 (GE) ( might be others, not tested yet, so far only tested the GE )

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?

Yes

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

Every time

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Load the sim
  2. Select A330-300 GE
  3. Select airport
  4. Set time of day to be night time.
  5. Fly now
  6. Make sure airport has apron lights shining at aircraft or around aircraft.
  7. Set aircraft up for engine start
  8. start engines
  9. look at engines in exterior view/wing view in cockpit/drone camera facing engines while they start.
  10. watch as they go from slow moving to full motion animation and disappear.
  11. tested with frame generation and without frame generation, same result.

ACER Nitro 16 RTX4060 Ryzen 7 Laptop.

MEDIA

Please add a screenshot or video of the issue occurring.

(I understand this is a custom livery screenshot above, however this has been tested with default liveries with the same issue, this so happens to be the only screenshot I have of the issue)

I am not sure if this issue is model related, some form of transparency was added to the full speed animation model of the blades/spinner and it seems to be only affected at night and prominently seen when the apron lights are shining on the engines while on engine start up, however the issue may have come about, this does need looking into.
