Ability to adjust Terrain LOD on "the fly"?

So if I’m on the ground with my PC specs I can run terrain LOD at 200 and get great performance. If I go any higher than that on the ground, performance drops significantly. But once I take off and get to about 700 ft AGL, I can easily bump it up to 400 and still get great frame rates. 400 looks SO much better (I’m spoiled!) but cannot use 400 under about 700 ft AGL to take off or land, causes too many stutters.

I wish I could have the simulator adjust the terrain LOD “on the fly” without me having to break the immersion and go to the menu to change terrain LOD upon takeoff and landing. Either have the settings changeable through the top menu or maybe within the user.cfg file?

Example for higher end pc’s:
Terrain LOD Transition altitude (AGL): 700 feet
Terrain LOD setting above transition altitude: 400
Terrain LOD setting below transition altitude: 200

Example for lower end pc’s:
Terrain LOD Transition altitude (AGL): 1,600 feet
Terrain LOD setting above transition altitude: 120
Terrain LOD setting below transition altitude: 80

Either way all 3 settings (transition altitude, LOD above and below) are user selectable. Would this be possible?
