Ability to Manually Edit/Reorganise Aircraft in Aircraft Selection

At the moment, the aircraft selection screens are a mess. Since there’s no naming convention that any of the various teams of developers have agreed and followed… there’s no sense to the order in which aircraft appear, or in how they are named.

Since it seems that applying or enforcing some kind of convention to tidy this all up isn’t likely to be forthcoming any time soon - how about just making the various text entries on the aircraft selection screens editable by user?

It doesn’t even have to overwrite or edit the aircraft configuration screen. We just need a locally defined override file that contains whatever we decide to enter.. and for that to be used if there’s anything in it, and use the original configuration files for aircraft with no manual/local entry.

Agree. It’s been an issue since 2020. Asobo call it a Textron, Blacksquare call it a Blacksquare and it sorts on these. Both same aircraft manufacturer and type. Plenty of other examples as well. Be nice if we could remove all the un-wanted dross aircraft we will never use also. Voted.

Yes Would be great to be able to put all the Cessna and Piper etc. in groups together. Be able to set an Alphabetical by manufacture or however you like.
Even group Favorites.

Being able to add custom-defined tags would be a really useful addition too.

I’m surprised this one doesn’t get more votes considering how much of an inconsistent mess things are currently.

I always hesitate to recommend a 3rd party app to fill the need that should be built in to the sim (like this.) Voted.

But Sonicviz ‘Aircraft Manager’ did all that and more for FS2020. They’ve released ‘Location Manager 2’ for FS2024, and I’m hoping ‘Aircraft Manager 2’ for the new sim will be out soon.

I did contact Sonicviz about that possibility - I was a big fan of the Aircraft Manager in FS20. But apparently the changes that have been made to MS24’s UI make the Aircraft Manager impossible to implement - at least for now.

Here’s hoping that’ll change but I don’t think it’ll be soon.

Seems like an all-too-familiar tale these days.

Flow somes to mind. Not currently compatible with FS24. Flow Pro is supposedly compatible now, but it’s not native. //42 says “We’re working on it.”

Their SimFX - another mod I really liked in FS20 - is simply listed ‘Not compatible with MSFS 2024.’ I get the sense that it will never work with the new sim, and they’ve abandoned the effort to make it so. I don’t blame //42 for that.
