About Next Level racing motion V3 for simming

hi and thanks for your kind answer :slight_smile:
the reason I even found out about your profiles is someone on facebook gave me a hint after I posted a picture of the motion plus platform. He said he used your profiles and I thought he also used a motion plus. If you only made them for V3, of course it makes sense they dont work lol :slight_smile:

Hi all!
Check out this super interesting video to understand how motion cueing actually works :blush:

Hey guys, looking for some help here.

Anyone managed to get the NLR app to find MSFS2024?

FS2024 is installed and (finally) running okay, updated the NLR app - doesn’t find FS2024 automatically and searching manually to the obscure location where it’s installed doesn’t help.

Let me know if you’ve overcome the obvious mistake that I must have made!

… So in case anyone else is struggling, the FS2024 application folder is something like: ‘/Program Files/WindowsApps/Microsoft.FlightSimulator_1.38.2.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe’ (store version at least).

This system folder is usually hidden and if you’re like me, you will need to ‘show hidden folders’ in explorer and change security settings to take ownership of it before you can manually locate it from the NLR app.

If you need to do this, internet will advice you how … I’m probably not the best qualified person to do so!

I have installed an update, bur i do not get into the sim.

If anyone wants to try my G-Based profile for the Motion Platform V3 and FS2024 here is the file: https://www.postfrontal.com/FS2020/FS2024_Motion_Platform_V3_Giuliano_Golfieri.zip

I did’t have time to map the forces in the profile control panel, if you want to tweak the accelerations please edit the values in the script file at the following lines (it’s pretty harsh with the default values):

// Gains
float forwardGain = 2500.0f;
float verticalGain = 1000.0f;
float lateralGain = 250.0f;
float yawGain = 500.0f;

Please let me know what you think.

Thanks!

I just read a posting and will try the profiles as soon as I can. At the moment, I still have the problem that MSFS 2020 keeps crashing, and I can hardly fly for more than a few minutes.

I tried this now and found that there are no seat movements in VR when I set a profile. When I set old profiles from 2020, they work.

@NameBrot3621191 are you flying in FS2020 or FS2024? I created two specific profiles for each and those are not cross-compatible.
Also check your VR Headway settings in the NLR Motion Platform software.

thank you for this. Could I trouble you to explain where I find the areas to edit such as float forward gain etcv

@SomeCarnival353 if you press the Edit button in the profile it will open a new window. In there you find the “scripts” section. Pressing “Code” beside the script, it will open it in Notepad or an editor if you have it installed.

In the profile script you’ll find that part of the code.

I am sorry, I cannot help at the moment, because I am far from home for the next three weeks.:woman_raising_hand:t4:

@TELLURICO1975 Thank you for your awesome profiles! Great work and really a game changer.
Do you happen to have made similar profiles for „that other sim“ by LR (version 12 to be specific)? Couldn’t find anything so far.

Thank you! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
Sorry, I just made profiles for FS and DCS (I don’t fly other sims)

just wanted some feedback from people with the NLR v3. i currently have a DOF H2 which is almost 7 years old now. ive stopped using it because if the jerky movements. it also never gave me the feeling on light turbulence while flying or feeling bumps here and there. on landing it would not really do anything either. it was just basically good for pitch up pitch down and left and right banks.
i generally fly airliners in VR so the feeling of turbulence, ground bumps, touchdown on landings, small movements are more important than pitch or roll.
i wanted to know if the NLR v3 will be an upgrade on what i have experienced.
also wondering if purchasing the platform will be enough to attach to current DOF h2 rig or will i need one of their cockpits as well?

The DOF unit had an issue because of the worm-gear gearbox. There was really no way to fix it so that it was acceptable for flight simulators. They have since changed the motor configuration to one that utilizes a planetary and ball-screw. Also the SMC3 software was not conducive to small movements, nor very precise. If you have one of the original units, the IBT-2 motor drivers left something to be desired as well.
You could add bungee cords between the base frame and seat frame at the motor attachment point. This will preload the motors against the worm-gear. Next you will want to make sure that you have the links attached to the hole closest to the gearbox shaft. It’s less movement but you will feel the small movements more. You will also want to to update the Arduino to the hacked version that adds a lot to the original one. I’ll look for the Github page. It’s not set up for the H2 but I have a copy of it that I can modify for you. Then you just have to compile it and install it on the Arduino board. It’s very simple. If you choose to go this path I can guide you through the process if you need me to. I’ve read that swapping out the IBT-2 drivers to the ones they used in the later version helps too.
Even after all of this, it still might not be what you hope it to be. If you just want to buy a different unit, make sure it doesn’t use a worm gear gearbox.
I recently purchased a used P3 for a grand. It was broken. Took me about 8 hours to fix what the 2 previous owners broke while attempting to fix it, as well as fix the original issue. After five minutes of flight time I knew it was not going to work in it’s current state. So I’m swapping it over to a DIY planetary and ball-screw drive. DOF says they are going to make an upgrade kit, but from my understanding it is going to cast a few grand. No thank you!

Hi @TELLURICO1975 and thanks again for all the great FS20 and FS24 profiles.
Unfortunately I have one weird bug recently and didn’t find any cure in the web, hope you or anyone here came across it maybe.
When I play FS24 with the V3 profile, I experienc pretty much every second (it’s definitely rhythmic) a kind of a hard “kick” to the left. It’s very quick and pretty hard, feels really like something would have hit the plane from right side.
These kicks are mostly present if there is no control input. When I start flying more manually with the joystick it stops or doesn’t occur that often, only in between. It’s all planes and it’s only in FS24, all my other sims run well.
I don’t think this is worth a tickt as it’s such a niche thing with FS24 and V3 only, but maybe any of you have an idea?
