Absurd download speeds... March 2021!

Hi,

Due problems with the Carenado Arrow, I was forced to install the whole MSFS again.

download speeds are absurdly slow… my current download speed is 100mbps, but I´m stuck with 4 days in a row downloading and still going. and the loading bar shows me 3mbits/s

After the launch of MSFS this problem is still present which is totally unnaceptable! what can I do… it feels like it will take 7 more days to complete download! ■■■ guys!

Help!

Slow download speed – Microsoft Flight Simulator Support (zendesk.com)

When you eventually get it downloaded make sure you regularly backup your Onestore folder and reduce your download by 100GB.

I highly doubt that.

doubt it or not… that´s my case.

also the Zendesk solution is hardly making any changes on the download sppeds… help!

THREE DAYS!!!

Today is DAY 3 at average 5-12 mbps AND IT’S STILL NOT DONE!

I’m just now at 243 out of 244 files and a long way to go.

This keeps popping up every minute and I can’t even use my computer! It stays on top and I can’t figure out how to make it stop.

You’re in for the worst time ever!

Wow. Seriously. Wow.
If there was ever a priority to fix something this is it.

During Livestreaming I turn all ‘Downloading’ stuff OFF.

A normal install to the M.2 drive is usually an hour or two.

I tried all the ways listed to ‘reset’ but nothing worked.
There has to be clearer options or ways to change or delete your online cloud settings.

This is the most ridiculous ‘bug’ ever.

Thread hijack, but it looks like you’re downloading the game to a directory that you have also marked to sync back to the cloud. So any byte you download is also being re-uploaded for no good reason. And uploads will severely limit your available bandwith compared to downloading.

So tweak whatever cloud sync / backup you have running.

It’s a fresh install of windows onto an M.2 drive.
I didn’t ‘set’ anything. I just started the install.

sync is off

How do you turn off the X-Box Sync? You can’t?
It’s in the Microsoft Account Settings it seems.
Windows also installs ONEDRIVE and when you create a Windows account it automatically turns it on or will start a sync to One Drive if you clear the sync in Microsoft Acct.

To delete your settings from OneDrive

  1. After you’ve turned off syncing on each of your PCs, return to this page and click Remove.

Note: To delete backed up PC settings for your PCs, go to the Device settings page.

At this point in the install doing the above has not made any difference in download speed.

X-BOX & X-Box companion app have been uninstalled. Only X-Box-Live is still resident.
The pop ups keep happening.

I found the ‘Gaming Service’ that was popping up and hit STOP…
MSFS just shut down!
Luckily it restarted where it left off with only 2 packages to go.

But it still has made no difference in download speed

I also tried the various ways people have already suggested

  • Repair app
  • Reset App
  • Use CMD line to clear data, etc. etc.
    NADDA

&*^^&^@&%^! Reset itself and started over downloading those two packages again. It didn’t shut down…it just reset itself to 0%.
Back to 1%.

(@*&^#^&^&^!&^!!! It did it again!! RESET TO 0%

BTW: Pretty sure you need X-Box Game Pass or companion or…whatever. I reinstalled those and did a windows update.
Signed in to Game Pass…

TRYING again to get those last two packages.
I do not want to uninstall and try again.

  • so far so good…

Microsoft Flight Simulator deserves another kind of historic award for this particular & very unique slice of hell they have delivered unto us.

  • Cosmically, it’s all very funny.

You are lucky… this is my 4th day of continous download and still got this…

absolutely ridiculous…

Im downloading a simulator not the whole internet… asobo provides no solution.

so frustrating

For the sake of experiment: can you limit the fps in nvidia/amd settings to like 30fps? It should lift the load from the GPU/CPU. Things dramatically improved when I did that.

Don’t forget to restart the sim. It will continue where you left.

Mine took about 12 hours But your internet and hard drive speeds can drastically change it.

Pieter1982NL, no change at all. :frowning:

I’ve done it before on a laptop SATA in about TWO hours.

I’m loading it onto a M.2 PCIe Samsung 970 EVO Plus…with a 400-m00 mbps line.

This is day 3.

In comparison:
From Steam I downloaded Civ6 & Rome Total War Emperor Edition in about 5 mins…or less.

The load is quite annoying.

5th day of continuous downloading… absolutely ridiculous!

Same here. Started trying to download on Saturday. Very slow. Checked internet and discovered there was an issue in the area. Stopped trying to download Sunday evening. After notification of issue being resolved, checked download speed, getting 200 megabytes per second. Started download Monday evening, watching the bar. It will go to about 25 percent and then start over. This continues, although not always making it to 25 percent, all night Monday until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Still stuck at less than 25 percent. Just restarted modem to try that. Any suggestions?

I found this and tried it and it worked: A) Disable Window Auto-tuning

  • In the Windows search bar, type Command and look for ‘Command Prompt
  • In the menu select “Run as administrator
  • Enter: netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
  • Press enter
  • Reboot your computer

There are a lot of comments about “slow downloads”, but this is the only post I’ve found that seems to capture the issue I have: that whatever is being downloaded is constantly resetting to zero and starting over. The download is stuck in a doom loop.

On an initial install, I got the download going and the stated download rate was reasonable – 60+ mbps. I left it for four hours, and came back to find it on item 4/260…and constantly starting over, and hence making no progress.

The only answer I found was to install NetLimiter and throttle back the download speeds to an absurd 2-4 mpbs. That’s 3-5 days for the 90GB required.

So, the issue, for me, isn’t a slow download speed, but one that seems TOO FAST for the…compiler (?..I don’t know what I’m talking about here…) to cope with.

If there’s a way to fix this, great…otherwise, I’d LOVE a boxed DVD set!

Hey there.
I have the same issue.
I opened a ticket on the Zendesk and guess what…?
They don’t give a single s**** about that.

Here’s the reply :

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Flight Simulator Support today. We at MSFS2020 Support have no control over the speed of the delivery network.

Kind regards,

This will never be solved.
