Great, good to hear!
I see what you mean, but quite frankly many achievements seem pretty random to me…
Two days ago I finally got the ILS achievement (Stay on Target), whilst flying the DA40NG (with NGX mod and WT G1000 mod) .
The only thing I did differently was activating the approach on the AP instead of flying manually. And it didn’t pop right after I ended the flight, but when I restarted the sim the following day. Oh well.
I got the Hydroplaning achievement (accumulate 50 hours of flight time in rainy weather) while flying in clear skies. I changed the time of day and weather to be mid-day and few clouds, but maybe live weather was raining at that time? I don’t know… I was surprised to see the achievement pop up though.
Hi all, just finished the Balkans Bush Trip, no achievement . Had all navigation aids turned off.
EDIT: and no, I didn’t use the “Back on track”
Don’t know what’s wrong, but just flew first leg of Patagonia Bush Trip, got the , but the achievement shows 0%. Any ideas?
I just finished the Balkan trip last week. I had no trouble getting the achievement. Make sure you stop on the destination airport’s runway and then exit back to Bush trips. Don’t hit continue if you want to go on to the next leg. Back out to the Bush trip menu & verify that you got credit for the leg by verifying that there is an icon of a plane next to the leg. If so then you should be good to go on to the next leg. I ran into some quirks starting with leg 14 but they didn’t prevent me from getting the achievement. The first was that I couldn’t initially find the grass runway I think on leg 14 so I over flew it. I used my Garmin 1000 navigation throughout the trip which I found odd that it didn’t count that as help. Maybe they figure since it came with the aircraft it was OK to use it. Anyway, after I overflew the grass strip another way point popped up labeled USR so I kept flying to it. When I got to it another USR waypoint showed up about 7 miles away so I started flying towards it. I then decided to load the airport that I was supposed to land at into my Garmin as a Direct To point and flew back towards it. I was able to find it that time and landed. My last 2 legs didn’t load my route into my GPS like the first 14 legs did but I think I screwed it up by going to the next two waypoints. I just used Direct To to find the last two airports. When I landed at the final one it showed on the screen that I completed the trip
Hi LonghornRam, thanks for your reply. As I stated in my second post here, I did try Patagonia Trip first leg, got the check-mark, went back to Bush Trips menu, checked the achievement progress, but it was still 0%. So, not sure what is wrong
Be sure not to use time acceleration as well, as it will also negate the achievement.
And no Dev Mode at any point.
Hi Giannino2, just deleted my Patagonia save and tried it again, no progress on the achi. Had no nav aids on, dev mode was turned off, didn’t use “Back on track”. Got the mark from the first leg, but achi progress stays at 0%.
not sure if it is even supposed to track the legs for the achievement, but It’s very possible it’s just either 0% (not completed the full trip yet) or 100% (completed the trip). If you get the checkmarks on the legs, don’t worry about it. There are quite a few achievements that are binary.
I wish it was possible to see which plane I’m still missing for ‘Jack of all Planes’. Stuck on 95%, and have already checked the logbook to see if I was missing anything.
Did the 172 on both the steam gauge and G1000 version just to be sure, still no dice.
Finally got it, apparently it was the TBM that was missing. Odd, since I’ve done quite a few flights with it. Guess it just never stuck before.
It definitely does NOT track progress for each leg of a bush trip. It will show either 0% or 100% done.
The OP needs to be updated for the Jack of All Planes:
Known issues: The sim does not track progress on the Cessna 172 Skyhawk G1000 from standard of the game, but rather the additional Cessna 172 Skyhawk from the deluxe edition of the game, making this achievement inaccessible to owners of the standard edition
I have standard edition from Steam and has achieved the Jack of All Planes by flying Cessna 172 Skyhawk G1000. I don’t have any other Cessna 172.
Saddle Sore is my next nemesis.
Just completed an 8+ hour flight in the C208, logged fine in the logbook, but achievement remains locked.
Since I did the flight at night I at least managed to get Night owl unlocked.
following some tips from this thread, I disabled unlimited fuel, took out the DA62, took off, and puttered along at 1500 feet along a straight coastline. Reduced throttle until it was using 3 GPH on both engines, so it could easily do 8 hours even without the reserves. After 8 hours passed, flew to the nearest airport along the coast, and landed.
Achievement instantly popped.
So I guess it’s not bugged, you just can’t do it with unlimited fuel.
I would be interested in which course you took, care to share?
I’m guessing that most of these achievements can’t be done with sim-rate increased etc
The way I made “my way” and the aircraft I’ve completed for “jack of all planes” complete basically mean properly flying the route myself in “True to Life” without touching the sim-rate. I’m trying to avoid using the co-pilot also as sometimes the flight doesn’t seem to pop when I have triggered co-pilot command.
Has anybody achieved managed to fly the required distance in the Avia Pitts? I’m struggling with this, it’s base endurance seems to be just under the required flight distance to qualify
There wasn’t a specific route.
I just took off from the north-eastern coast of Brazil, flew a compass heading WNW along the coast (ALT + HDG on the AP) until the 8 hours was up, then flew to the closest airport.
For the Pitts (I assume you meant for the Jack of all Planes achievement); it should easily be able to do a 300 mile flight (it’s only 261 nautical miles).
Use both main and aux fuel tanks, and reduce throttle and prop RPM to just have it cruising along at a nice speed. Don’t try to go fast.
