Achievement Unlocked - Installing the Game

So I think I’ve almost aced it…

I managed to get around the flightsimulator.exe has stopped responding, after 24 hours of extensive research.

This included the hidden challenge of the forum overloaded challenge. I stealthily timed my reload’s to avoid the dreaded 500 error.

I also navigated around the subterfuge of the reddit mod’s saying all the answers were on the forums.

I found the last clue somewhere between the missing Auckland and Sydney harbour bridges. It was in fact located on reddit, by a lost adventurer who obviously gave up on the forum clues.

And now I sit waiting patiently, nearly over the final hurdle as the last 3.68GB struggles to decompress without crashing flighsimulator.exe again.

And I think and wonder with amazment - Where’s my prize…

I can’t seem to manage the last 3 GB  It just doesn’t move away from “Please wait…”

Try here:

/r/MicrosoftFlightSim/comments/ibzk05/if_your_game_installation_gets_stuck_at_the_368gb/ - sorry cant include the full link in my post, but its a reddit thread…

I posted this in the other thread about the 3.68GB issue

Well, that fix got me back to having the game actually try to install. I guess I’ll see if it actually finishes this time.

Lol - it got mine to a completed state.

It almost ran… and then it crashed again…

But then it ran again, well almost - until it decided the 3.68GB of updates were actually 96GB, which was kinda like a re-install…

But then it completed the update… and it ran…I saw the beautiful intro video…I clicked the ANY key again in anticipation…I saw the setup/graphics config screen… and then flightsimulator.exe has stopped working…

What an absolute POS release…

BTW - its now downloading another 91.36GB “Update”…

Looking foward to the next flightsimulator.exe has stopped working button…

Also BTW - I take complete responsibility for this games dismal failure to install…

I should have like others suggested in other threads brought a completely new PC, dedicated it to the cause and dedicated its own room in the house.

Shame on me for trying to run it on 3 month old gear…

Alright, after six hours of installation, I finally was able to play the game! Runs pretty well on my gaming laptop, too. However, after the first four tutorials, it crashes when loading the fifth. Oh, well, my computer was getting pretty hot anyway, so it’s good to stop for now.

If the installation had failed again, I would’ve just given up. I’m playing it through GamePass, so it’s not like I spent any extra money on it.
