There’s no way to know what the weather is when flying with live weather (or at least I can’t find it). I would like the actual conditions to be shown in the weather tab, and the possibility to click on an airport in the vfr map and get the conditions or METAR from that airport.
I agree with this. There should be at least some basic info about live weather so that we don’t have to rely on external software and services to read it.
As Sebastian mentioned in the latest Q&A it would be more realistic if u just see the METAR in the Worldmap instead off the Meteoblue Data.
Please try to do so.
Cheers
PS: Awesome Job so far guys!
Although this should be available in-game as suggested here, I would also like to see this information made available to 3rd party devs via the API’s. This is different than asking Asobo to completely open up the weather system to 3rd parties, which they’ve said they won’t do. There just needs to be a way for 3rd party apps like Little NavMap or other flight planners, etc. to be able to access in-game weather data, since this doesn’t always sync up perfectly with actual live conditions.
I personally don’t have a problem using some external resources to enhance flight planning, etc. as long as the data they present reflects actual flight conditions in the sim.
This would be a great addition, I agree!
A great feature would be an in-game panel showing the actual in-game weather, much the same way you’d use weather apps on a mobile device IRL (especially for smaller airfields/airports with no atis available). External weather services are an option, but only when flying with live weather.
Hi
When using ‘Live Weather’ there is no way, other than using third party tools & websites, to query weather conditions at an airport when planning or loading in flights. Specifically seeing wind, cloud, visibility etc. for that airport would be really useful when planning and setting up a new flight.
We can of course get ATIS when in flight but this limits the planning part somewhat as you can’t make an informed decision about the departure & destination airport without relying on third party weather sites that are not using the same data as that in-sim.
Would it be possible to get the live weather conditions added to each airport, so that you can then check departure/destination airports and/or airports along the flight route.
A button above the ‘live airport activity’ button could be added that opens a window with the current weather for that airport.
I’ve made a quick mock-up in photoshop, was thinking something like this would be good!
Best regards
Matt Barraud
Hmm. Nice idea. It would be a good feature to see sim weather for flight planning purposes. For my location most of the time metoblue matches with sim but why not to have som in sim weather user interface ?
Kind regards.
Just did a little mock-up from the current Metar/Taf from PANC, what do you think?
Like it! Looks sharp!
Thanks @RayK1t
Would be nice yush.Maybe on the VFR map or the world map at airport selection for departure/arrival they also could add icons above each airport indicating the current weather & maybe with the related colour code indicating the local weather in a specific zone ,toggled on/off
I think SkyElite has managed this so far.
I’m not a Dev of course so I can’t be sure what they are doing but I think it’s just pulling data in from MSFS2020 with simconnect and the wind speed and direction indicators seems pretty accurate to in game conditions to me so far.
I didn’t think about this exact element of the SkyElite software until I found this thread but I think I’ll have an extra close look at it tomorrow to check.
Otherwise - voted because this info should definitely be exposed to the provided in game maps + planner as well as to 3rd parties.
I could be wrong, but this seems partially completed as of SU 10 and SU 11.
While in game, open Weather from toolbar. Then click on METAR and select the airport you want to see that is in range.
Not a feature that I know of to click on an airport in the VFR to see METAR.
What would be great is if they add virtual METAR stations to the world sending out observations of the actual weather conditions in the sim.
