The new historical weather option is nice, and allows users to get the weather appropriate to the time set in the sim. I know this was a much-requested feature. However if you set the time to the future, the weather reverts 24 hours. I understand why that happens - there are no “future” real-time METARS.
I would like to request that a simple switch be added to the Live Weather menu “Do not use historical weather” that way the injected weather would be the most current weather no matter what the sim time - (just as is currently the case in 2020). This is especially important for those who fly on VATSIM.
I appreciate that 24-hour historical weather was added to the sim for those who want it, but please make it optional, not mandatory.
We need a way to keep live weather selectable while changing the time of day. We need this for VATSIM and to also have the ability to fly in real weather conditions and be able to change to any time of day like we were able to in MSFS2020. I understand the 24 hour weather you enabled but there should be a way to turn off the 24 hour historical weather and just using up-to-time live weather no matter what time of day we want to fly.
Before the decision to implement historical weather was made, it should have been given deeper consideration. For many users, the current implementation represents a major FS2024 regression.
It’s winter. I want to fly in daylight hours so I tick the clock back a few hours.
Now my flight planning is invalid, there are no METARs available, you can forget VATSIM.
i dont think this is the historical weather people wanted and afaik no one asked for some 24 hour ‘weather replay’
for me its horrible, i try to fly in Multiplayer and if i touch the wrong setting (specifically time) its Probable i will never see anyone again without reloading and trying diff settings
This needs a lot more votes, as Asobo’s decision to lock historical weather to sim time in FS2024 is a huge regression. It’s one of the many weird design decisions that clearly show to me that the dev team do not use the simulator to fly on VATSIM/IVAO, nor do they use real-time METAR for flight planning when flying for a VA.
Historic Weather: Separate Tab or Toggle in Live Tab
As the title suggests, please make historic weather either a separate tab or a clear toggle within the Live tab, because the current UI is confusing.
I still see YouTubers mistaking the Live tab for actual live weather, when in reality they are flying with historic weather after adjusting the time. I also struggled to find the true live weather after a couple of flights.
Right now, the naming doesn’t make sense. In MSFS 2020, the Live tab always meant actual live weather, regardless of time adjustments. MSFS 2024 should follow the same logic.
Ideally:
The Live tab should always mean real-time live weather.
Historic weather should either have its own dedicated tab, or at least a clear toggle/option within the Live tab (e.g., “Enable Historic Weather”).
This would make the UI much clearer and prevent ongoing confusion.

ive Never played a game that i had to ‘move a time slider Forward’ before this one to play in the daytime and frankly its not good, in my mind
many times i want to fly in the daytime- With live weather not some ‘24 hour historical’ stuff
what people asked for on ‘historical weather’ isnt this
it was about flying in a famous storm from months or years ago, maybe flying a mission from WW2 on that day with that weather
afaik no one asked for ‘yesterdays weather’ and calling that “historical” is just a PR stunt
Don’t we have that control already? If you want to change your time slider then just go to custom weather and choose the preset you want. The historical weather isn’t perfect but it can help you to fly a flight you previously did in similar conditions. If you don’t like what it gives you, go to custom.
You’re missing the point. Right now, it is impossible to fly with CURRENT live weather with a different time set in the sim, as changing the time in the sim with live weather will automatically set the weather as it was when the sim time is what you just set.
Hmmm. Seems the term “live weather” also includes the time of day. I get what you want but having that option changes the definition you are implementing. Perhaps in the custom weather setting you can have a “current weather” button.
