Add button to clear rolling cache in 2024

Please add a button to clear or delete the rolling cache in 2024. This was often the recommended solution in 2020 when it was suspected cached content was causing issues after updates. Would like to be able to do it in 2024 too - either after a core update or when you want to try a smaller cache size (for example, tried 32GB and want to revert to 16GB).

At the moment you can only clear rolling cache by deleting the reserved data. But this clears all of your saved camera angles and anything you may have chosen to install rather than stream. I always cleared rolling cache after every update and it feels like this is something we need to continue to do but each time will be painful without another way to do it

You can delete the rolling cache file,
then its reverts back to 16GB

ah, so that might be why a reinstall has so far helped me to reverse performance losses after an update? A reinstall would presumably delete and recreate an empty cache?

And you can deleted the StreamedPackages Folder, but expect very long loading time next run

Voted. Users with less technical ability should not have to navigate 100 voodoo folders to do what is essentially a simple thing to implement… AND, I believe this was a feature in 2020.

*I say believe as I’m away from PC at the mo, but if someone could confirm this? :+1:

Agreed. Op may want to update the thread title to also incorporate streamed packages? This includes all the streamed aircraft. I’ve used this to fix missing planes, but it wasn’t easy to find.

Raising hand in agreement.

Yes,

Revert/Clear RollingCache and
Check/Clear StreamedPackages
and maybe later Check/Reddonload Downloaded Content should be available as button

Even though I’m an advanced user and I delete the cache manually, I still voted in order to support other players.

Probably, if you ask me.

Maybe a dumb question, but what happens once tne cash is full when you can’t delete it?

Existing data in the Rolling Cache is replaced with new data. It is unclear at this point exactly how the algorithm determines what is to be replaced.

Thanks for the info.

I have two PC.
I have set the RC to 500GB on one and 250GB on the other.
No problems since then and never deleted again.

Please add in the option to clear / Reset the cached data in Msfs2024/setting/online. As it is in 2020

There is no other way to lower the size or reset the data without reinstalling on Xbox

But there should, of course, still be a native way to do it within the sim.

You can delete the RC without new Installation. In XBOX you can delete Cache under „Updates …“ here you find „reserved Space“ this you can delete, then you start with an empty 16GB RC
