Hi
There is a scenery editor as part of the SDK, always was even in 2020.
There are mod sites all over where you can get community scenery.
I don’t think there is a place for community addons in the marketplace, and I don’t see how Microsoft could (or should) support streaming content that isn’t theirs. It would be way too big of an overhead. This is what the community folder is for.
There is also the WorldHub, soon to be reopened, as it is identified in the latest Dev Updates. In the 2020 Alpha, it allowed changing the basics, like runways, taxiways. aprons, vasi/papi, edge lights, markings and others. Users upload their changes for approval. Once approved, the new scenery becomes part of the sim with the next Airac update (once per month).
Many requested improvements, like adding/moving beacons, default buildings, lights and more. We’ll know of any additional capabilities soon.
The WorldHub is a subset of the full SDK, mentioned above. I would encourage you to learn about Developer Mode and the SDK, download it with examples, and start to learn. It does what you describe except only the WorldHub changes will be streamed.
Even Microsoft should benefit if users help update the world. Let us users assist in building whats missing and fixing what’s incorrect with their approval, of course.
The storage space it takes on their servers is nothing compared to the time and effort they would save.
There shouldn’t be a need to install specific add-ons, it should just be integrated and streamed like the rest of the world in the game.
Simply give us the option to toggle community add-ons on or off.
That’s my opinion
Maybe in the future it will be like that
