It might work like that eventually but right now you can only use a very narrow handful of aircraft, not even all the ones included in the sim by default. For example once you take your helicopter turbine rating you’d think you’d be able to fly the Bell 407 or the Robinson R66, as those are both single turbine helicopters. However, the only helicopter that is unlocked is the H125. As far as I can tell you are currently never able to use the default Bell 407 or R66 in the career, no matter what you do.

Unless it can’t be fit into any of the mission types, I’d like to see every aircraft that comes with the game make its way into the career.

100% agree with this thread.
One way to limit aircraft from using inappropriate airports would be to allow for maximum weight bearing capacity on runways (which is often published in real life).
For instance, this runway is rated for single-wheel aircraft up to 30,000 lbs.
Here’s a more complex one. This includes PCN data underlined in blue.
Here’s a list of the type of gear, might also need to be a flag in the aircraft config:
This is valid for US airports, but you could also use PCN classification, which meets ICAO standards.
You could also do something like set “career mode” flags for parking spots based on mission type as well as aircraft size. This would shunt appropriate aircraft to the correct locations on the airport, as well as prevent overly large aircraft from being available at, say, a small airport. Or limiting airplanes that exceed a certain passenger capacity (there’s often a threshold when capacity exceeds 19 seats).
Currently, no such coding exists in the airport or aircraft configs. Just spitballing some creative ways we could expand what’s available, using available data, without over-allowing aircraft.

Float planes can still be useful as airline planes in Alaska and Canada where seaplane bases are still a thing. Used to fly between them in Airhauler.

Yes this really need to be fixed fast! Im a pure helicopter guy, and i cant stand to fly the h125 and Cabri. I want to fly the R66 mostly and also the bell 407 in Carrer mode.
Just let us buy those helicopters also!

I never thought NEOFLY would be better than 2024 for career mode.
Graphically it is not but on a basic level it is.
Sure hope 2024 will eventually at least do what NEOFLY offers.

I fully agree with this. I would really like to fly the Classic Cessna 172 instead of the G1000 version because that’s what I fly the most in real life. I don’t see any reason to force us to only use the Cessna 172 G1000 at the beginning. I understand the need to unlock more aircraft as the career progresses, but give us some more options at the very beginning too so that we can pick our aircraft of choice.

It sounds like they plan on expanding this, but it needs to tie into the concept of allowing us to choose the aircraft for route, mission, and/or payload that is up for grabs. Please don’t tie it all into what they think is an appropriate time/distance, maybe airport size for a specific airplane, like it is now.
The concept I explained earlier could more appropriately filter aircraft into certain airports. Right now it’s anybody’s guess how they’re choosing to do that.

We need the premium delux aircraft in career. It feels crazy to spend a fair chunk of money on content that can’t be used in career. Would love to do some cargo ops in the Saab.

- Deluxe gets to do heavy cargo
- Standard peasants do not.

I didn’t even notice this until now. That’s absurd. You can’t even get that specialization with the standard edition, which means you can’t unlock Super Heavy either.
It is also, I agree, absurd that none of the premium deluxe work in career mode? I don’t have PD at the moment, as I was planning to maybe just buy the individual aircraft I Want ala carte, but I just assumed things like the Cessna 408 and H225 worked. It’s insane that they don’t!

I agree. I feel like it they were extremely misleading before launch about this. The Cessna 188 is a great example. They’d show video of the 188 participating in ag aviation during trailers. There are pictures of the 188 in career mode. But you can’t fly the 188 in career mode.
The funny thing is that in career mode you’re spraying 188 sized fields, but you have to spray them with an 802.

I think Asobo either has done that or plans to, but no idea how onerous it is and weather or not devs will do it. I certainly hope so though.

Yes, and the Albatross and the Dornier too. It’s silly that two of the coolest planes they brought to 2024 aren’t available in career mode.
Amphibious missions would be really neat too.

I would love to have the H145 and H160 from Hype Performance as an option in career mode.
It would be nice to be able to fly any aircraft I have installed in career mode.

I just want to be able to use the Icon in my upcoming global city flightseeing company, balloons for its sister rural sightseeing company and a F18 for their sister “here’s the bag” experience company
