It might work like that eventually but right now you can only use a very narrow handful of aircraft, not even all the ones included in the sim by default. For example once you take your helicopter turbine rating you’d think you’d be able to fly the Bell 407 or the Robinson R66, as those are both single turbine helicopters. However, the only helicopter that is unlocked is the H125. As far as I can tell you are currently never able to use the default Bell 407 or R66 in the career, no matter what you do.

Not requiring the player to spend 40-60 hours real life time in a C172 to progress might be a good way to add plane variety. Just my 2 cents.

Unless it can’t be fit into any of the mission types, I’d like to see every aircraft that comes with the game make its way into the career.

100% agree with this thread.
One way to limit aircraft from using inappropriate airports would be to allow for maximum weight bearing capacity on runways (which is often published in real life).
For instance, this runway is rated for single-wheel aircraft up to 30,000 lbs.

This is valid for US airports, but you could also use PCN classification, which meets ICAO standards.
You could also do something like set “career mode” flags for parking spots based on mission type as well as aircraft size. This would shunt appropriate aircraft to the correct locations on the airport, as well as prevent overly large aircraft from being available at, say, a small airport. Or limiting airplanes that exceed a certain passenger capacity (there’s often a threshold when capacity exceeds 19 seats).
Currently, no such coding exists in the airport or aircraft configs. Just spitballing some creative ways we could expand what’s available, using available data, without over-allowing aircraft.

Float planes can still be useful as airline planes in Alaska and Canada where seaplane bases are still a thing. Used to fly between them in Airhauler.

Yes this really need to be fixed fast! Im a pure helicopter guy, and i cant stand to fly the h125 and Cabri. I want to fly the R66 mostly and also the bell 407 in Carrer mode.
Just let us buy those helicopters also!

there are still alot of places for float/seaplanes out there.
I never thought NEOFLY would be better than 2024 for career mode.
Graphically it is not but on a basic level it is.
Sure hope 2024 will eventually at least do what NEOFLY offers.
