One of the dev alpha builds had cockpit view and showcase cam, don’t know if they intend bringing it back, but this needs to be voted for.

The problem is the sim is full with issues, nobody knows when “features” will become priority.
but as this topic title says, this is not the problem, the problem is why they took amazing feature and degraded it entirely? thats the problem.

The hangar was a lovely feature in 2020 and I impressed my colleagues at work with screenshots from it.
Also it was very practical for livery painting. I used to update the livery while MSFS2020 was open, switch the aircraft to another one, and then back to it and the livery updates. I could inspect it and do more photoshop tweaks etc. It was much more practical this way than loading a whole flight to see if the livery looks Ok.
I have to admit that it was a sad thing to see it gone. I wonder what was the reason.
I hope it will be back.

This is a very weird decision, the FS2020 hangar was a great feature. I can’t even properly see the livery selected on some planes due to the size and angle. Funny enough the “picture” in MSFS2024 aircraft configure window is not a still picture, “remove before flight” tags and such can be seen fluttering in the wind. Yet it is not possible to rotate the aircraft to view from different angles. Voted.

All this fancy catalog, without a hangar, and without a piece of background info about a single piece of a plane! its just crazy! got the aviator edition for pictures album! I can’t fly a plane without background info about them, nor i can fly it if it didn’t have a parking spot in “my hangar”!
all i did in the sim since launch is some training missions, when i open the sim to do more, i remembe there is no hangar, then i close the sim.
hope this nightmare will have a happy ending.

Comparison by screenshots of the feature degradation between 2020 vs 2024:
1- Quick access menu for aircraft by pictures, for both 2020 & 2024:
2- Hangar that utilizes camera angels inspection with background info about planes (only in 2020, totally removed in 2024, causing the degradation, which contradicts to what has been promised to improve the sim):
3- Conclusion: 2020 gives you a value of collecting planes not just for flying them, by inspecting them as a collection at once, having your own dedicated place for accessing and showcasing them, & most importantly, having background info about them.
ifs thats not degradation happened, then the blue is red like 1+2 is 9 
Hope devs reconsider this severe path.

I miss the hangar and the aircraft details. I hope it returns.
I like reading about the aircraft, more than just the speed and range stats. I use the hangar to evaluate which livery I’ll use prior to flying most flights because it is so much more detailed than a thumbnail image. The hangar also lets me show many aircraft quickly to other people without the delay of loading into an airport just to display an aircraft.

When comparing, we compare good to bad, to have a sharp view. in the matter of taste, there is a good taste and bad one, if in 2020 we had a beautiful hangar, and x plane have static pictures, isn’t it obvious what’s better? in other words, what taste is better?
Off topic: iam now beginning to think asobo has hired some x employees of x plane devs or something
Back to topic: I always like to look deeply into things, how deeply i keep looking into this issue, i can’t find logical explanation for this degradation! We know the static pictures are way faster to implement when you have no time ahead of release time, that’s not the problem, the problem is taking the sim to a bad path after release & not improving it (specially the coding for the hangar already exsists, its not something new, its something that has been taken and degraded badly, which all agree is a bad path not just bad taste).

I have the feeling that the hangar feature in FS2020 was deprioritised over time, considering that several bugs went unfixed, and newer first-party aircraft didn’t even come with proper RTCs. Perhaps they considered the in-game walk-around inspection mode as a replacement.
The ability to read information on the aircraft’s history and rotate it to check out its variants or liveries is a basic feature that even FSX had, so I think that should return at the very least.

Its is a cool feature indeed, that many simmers asked for and their wish has been granted, adding more physicality to the sim. however, here comes the problem, this is a separate feature for the sim for preflight process only, and considering it a replacement for “my hangar” causes degradation to the sim, because:
- No Background info = No value.
- No collection inspection, which is very important, specially that MS is releasing more & more planes, so collections become more vital, so as a result the hangar features become more vital as well.
- Easier to access with dedicated menu, checking liveries, having a value of what you are flying, not just opening covers on it before you fly it.
& the list of advantages of the hangar continues, & the list of disadvantages without it continues as well.
The main reason i had aviator edition because of “my hangar”, only to find out after release they decided to cancel it, which was a surprise indeed. hope this darkness will have a light in the end of the tunnel.
They need time, no problem, they can bring it back after a year later, we’ll wait, but to degrade the sim, this is not thier right to do, & yes degradation happens when easy things like static pictures replaces whole magic of full featured hangar that already exists & does not need inventing from scratch.

Sometimes I swear it seems like they literally went point by point from 2020 and said how can we eff this up.

Concept of how MSFS 2024 Hangar might look like, it does not need to be complicated, or be invented from scratch, or be the exact same like 2020, nor that the devs need to change the sim UI!
It can be added just by two Tabs! that would bring the magic back! is this too much to ask for to be able to value what you love about the sim?

Also, this would complete the in progress wish of having the option to start flight immediately & skipping walkaround, because most users like to inspect aircraft for (the flight process) in a separated manner from the flight itself, & who likes to do so in the flight process, will have the option to.
They haven’t changed that. You’re still seeing the full 3D model, except without the ability to spin around or look inside. Very similar resources are still being used.
The hangar takes less resources than an airport, it’s very limited in size.

You don’t need the External/Internal inspection button. Just click on the 3D model that’s already there and expose the model for rotation, if you click on the cockpit door or window it pops you into the cockpit, with Esc to go back to the previous view.
I like the background button! Pops a transparent-ish window up and let’s you read the history of the plane, could get it from Wikipedia… Or whatever similar product MS has these days, whatever happened to Expedia?
The angle they show the planes today is ridiculous for choosing liveries. The initial view needs to be what Xplane shows…
(Honestly, I have no idea why they show the 3D model but don’t let us look at like we could in the Hangar, it’s still using all those resources. So if they’re going to make us spend the resources, at least let us use them)
