Absolutely. Few years ago, i bought everything almost instantly when it came to FlightSimulation. But now im way more patient… The CRJ i only bought after the first patch, besides that, i have not bought any plane. Im just waiting till the products are basically “done”. Even if i was soo eager to get my hands on the DC-6, seeing the bugs and issues, im happy i havent bought it yet. Not that its a bad plane or unusuable, but i really want a product where i dont have to operate around bugs and issues.
And yes, also my MSFS is basically on hold right now, its still not where i want it to be. Ill look at it again after the DX12/performance patch and/or when the next World update is out.
Where I live you always have the right to return an online purchase. Some websites will claim a ‘no return’ policy, but that won’t hold up in court. It really baffles me that the marketplace purchases are non-refundable. For me, that means it is not a safe place to buy an item. Wouldn’t it be great if you could just try out a mod, like you can on Steam? Sure, watching reviews helps in your decision making, but it cannot replace trying it out yourself.
Surely it’s not beyong the realms of possibility to have a, say, 7 day trial programmed in to the software so that it “self-destructs” if you don’t get a programme “key” which you pay for?
Or even again an inbuilt switch that can be activated to “kill” a programme if it is refunded?
It’s totally possible. MS can do such things using their Marketplace, content manager and encryption features. The sim verifies all packages on startup anyway and piracy is blocked by the encryption as well.
No technical reason not to offer such a trial phase. They just don’t want to.
