Addons in Community folder appear as NOT INSTALLED in content manager and don't work anymore

Recently all of my add-ons in the community folder stopped working and show as uninstalled in the content manager. I tried some suggestions from this thread from 2021, but none worked. Can anyone help me get my content back?

A post was split to a new topic: Reinstall Went to Wrong Location

There may be a couple of issues here.
First, the Content Manager does not correctly display the status of items in the Content Manager.
It works well for items from the Marketplace, but does not for the Community Folder.

If items in your Community Folder do not show up in the sim, then the sim may have made a new Community Folder somewhere else in your device.
This happens on rare occasions.

The UserCfg.opt file in the main installation Local Cache folder will show you where the Community Folder the sim is using is located.

You can also use Developer Mode to find this:

Thanks for the reply.

The items do show up in my content manager, and always have, it’s just recently they show as not installed instead of installed and don’t show up in aircraft selection, scenery doesn’t load, etc.

I checked the UserCfg.opt and Dev tools and they both point to the correct folder where all of my add-ons are.

I recently started creating my own scenery- could that have anything to do with it?

If you start with an empty community folder do your addons still showing in content manager ?

Just because the Content Manager says not installed doesn’t mean that they are uninstalled.
The Content Manager does not work properly for items that are in your Community Folder.
If they don’t show up in the sim, then there is something wrong.

There could be some kind of mod conflict with your own scenery, but again, I would confirm that your addons aren’t working in the sim.
Don’t rely on what the Content Manager says.

No they don’t.

None of the add-ons work in the sim now either.

Have you tried removing any of the scenery you created from the Community folder and retested?

Provided, of course, you’ve generated packages from the scenery you’ve worked on and placed said packages in the Community folder.

Yes, I removed the scenery I made myself and still none of the other add-ons I’d been using work.

Do you have the Rolling Cache on, and if so, have you emptied it lately?

I have it off and yes, completely empty.

If you don’t have a “read only” on your folder, there shouldn’t be an issue.
The only thing else I can think of is to start the sim with your Community Folder with only one addon in it.
See if one (or more) of your addons are causing an issue.
If it works OK, add another, and so on.
If you have a lot, you could try in batches.

That didn’t work either. Starting to think reinstalling the entire sim is my only option at this point?

It’s worth a try.
Uninstall from the Windows Apps & Features menu, then after that, delete all left over folders.
Then do your re-install.

Same problem today after Mandatory update.
I can’t submit it as a Bug Report, because the update broke my 3rd Party content, and Microsobo won’t address that.

UserCfg.opt file points to D:\MSFS_Packages
Dev Mode Virtual File Info points to D:\MSFS_Packages\Community

Directory of Community Folder.
The green boxed items are working in the sim.

Community Assets not working in MSFS

Addons_Linker empty preset showing only Community folder assets.
The green boxed items are working in the sim.

I remembered that I also got a Windows Update yesterday prior to having this problem. I rolled it back, but that didn’t solve the problem.

I’m going to restore December 18th disk images of both my C: drive, and the D: drive (where the sim is installed.)

The problem is that I will be forced to reinstall the mandatory default airport scenery update, which I believe caused the problem.

Restoring the D: drive (where the sim and my packages folders are) from a backup from two days ago , did not solve the problem.

However, restoring the C: drive and the D: drive from December 18 did solve the problem. The mandatory update reinstalled when I started the sim, and everything is back to normal.

Something, somehow, got screwy somewhere.

I just did a full reinstall of the sim and the community add-ons still don’t work. This sucks.

That does suck.

Maybe you’re going to have to uninstall/reinstall each individual add-on that’s not working.
