ADF cannot be set to detect fractional NDBs

 Thank you for using the Bug section, using templates provided will greatly help the team reproducing the issue and ease the process of fixing it.

Are you using Developer Mode or made changes in it?

No.

Have you disabled/removed all your mods and addons? If the issue still occurs with no mods and add-ons, please continue to report your issue. If not, please move this post to the User Support Hub.

I have an empty community folder.

Brief description of the issue:

Unable to set an ADF frequency that will track NDBs at CDF (Cardiff airport) and SWN (Swansea airport).

Provide Screenshot(s)/video(s) of the issue encountered:

Detailed steps to reproduce the issue encountered:

Go to World Map > Set aircraft to Cessna 152 > Set departure airport as EGFF Cardiff, Wales, UK > Set 50 Parking as departure and click Fly > Turn on Battery > Set ADF receiver to 388 or 389 and confirm ADF gauge does not respond (it should point to the back of the aircraft).

I believe the issue is the that the underling game has some NDBs with factional frequencies (As reported by Little MapNav, which gets its information from the FS20 database – I have only seen 0.5 fraction) which most if not all ADFs cannot track because it is not possible to set the fractional value.

Interestingly the VRF map does not report the fractional part so on the VFR map CDF is 388.0 kHz when the NDB is clicked.

PC specs and/or peripheral set up if relevant:

I do not believe PC specs or peripheral are relevant.

Build Version # when you first started experiencing this issue:

Many ADF radios in real life do not have an option to tune fractions of kHz, so this is correct. The issue in MSFS is that the frequency has to be tuned exactly down to decimal places in order to get any reception. In real life a radio tuned to 388 or 389 kHz would still receive signal from 388.5 kHz beacon.

Exactly this. If the ADF receiver is not capable of selecting the 0.5 as many units are not the fix needs to be to make them work when dialled within 0.5 of the actual frequency. Again exactly as it would be IRL. This has been pointed out before elsewhere on this forum.

There is a hack that gets round this issue as outlined in this post:

In reality 0.5 kHz difference is no problem, but in MSFS it is not working. There is a work-around: define a shortcut for plus/minus 0.1 kHz.
It would be better, if it works correctly.
