I used to have AeroFly FS2, but recently purchased AeroFly FS4. I am blown away by its superb performance and visuals in VR. FS4 now comes with superb detailed scenery and airports. Compared to FS in VR, AeroFly FS4 is much clearer, and sharper in cockpit and scenery. Never have any CTDs with FS4 or FS2. The framerates are a lot better. A joy to play. Never had this in MSFS VR, despite all the intensive tweaking I could never get a crisp sharp image, and the CTDs in VR were annoying. Overall MSFS is a lot better than AeroFly especially the sky and water, and in monitor mode is crisp and clear. So now I play Flightsims with MSFS monitor mode and AeroFly FS4 in VR. Microsoft should have got IPACS to create their Flightsim 2020!?
I looked at Aerofly and it does look good visually, but there seems to be a very limited range of aircraft.
Actually, just had a Quick Look through the Steam Aerofly support forums, and similar sort of chat to here (albeit with a smaller user base) - some people experiencing Crashes, some issues with airports with a hole in the rw etc etc. It does look good though, might try it on the Mac.
Well. Reduce size or world, reduce details, reduce everything. Better performance
Note: I love AeroFly FS2, but… it’s a different thing, entirely.
I’ve only tried FS2 and yes, the performance is amazing. But it also feels like more of a tech demo compared to MSFS. It has extremelyimited depth, it feels shallow. Simple physics engine, simple weather (no live weather either I believe), no real systems AFAIK, very limited scenery coverage. And the world feels a lot less alive.
Anyone know what the difference between FS2 and FS4 is supposed to be?
One of the worst Aerofly shortcomings is that it’s still a spin off from their ancient RC simulator which means their aircraft don’t use any fuel!
If you take off with e.g. your A380, it weighs the same after a 12hr flight which ruins a lot of its realism.
30 aircraft well modeled and presented is not limited. It just works and has fly by views and great native instant replay.
I have both Aerofly FS2 and FS4. Both work fine but tbh I still prefer FS2, mainly because I already have a lot of its dlc’s and user scenery (from flightsim org). Still fun to fly with, especially thanks to its great Vulcan VR performance. A bit cartoony, but what you pay for 90fps PCVR, lol!
Since getting a much stronger pc early last year (i913900k/rtx4090) I’m now probably using msfs2020 about 75-80% of the time.
