EasyJet Simpilot posted a review on YT 2 days ago, with the Fenix on Vatsim. It didn’t look great (to put it mildly), a lot of ground-stuff still had to be added (it looked lifeless) and performance was terrible. I can only imagine what it will be with GSX active. Approaches/taxi with LOD-s down to 25.
on the fenix on LOD 50 I have my vram maxed out on a 2080 so yeah unplayable but on other planes it works well. Fenix has to fix their vram usage, it is just too much no matter if using DX11 or DX12. I personally don´t accept LOD below 50 so I won´t change that. On the other planes like the TFDI MD11 or the PMDG planes it works actually ok. At least I am within the VRAM buffer so no stuttering. It´s just unfortunate that the plane that flies there most in reallife (320 family) is absolutely unusable if you have less than lets say a 12 gb GPU. Aerosoft gotta fix that but ultimately it is on fenix to improve because other planes work ok as I stated earlier
25 eur incl. tax for a huge airport like this seems quite reasonable to me. And I got updates for most of the airports I own that are sold under Aerosoft brand. They’re mostly developed by external teams anyway (Jo Erlend Sund + another guy in this case).
For me the pmdg 737 and 777 don’t perform much better than the Fenix.
Then whatever affects your system isnt vram because that is the differenciating issue between those products
I’m on PC, but I am trying to consolidate most of my purchases in one place now, which would be the Marketplace. Are there plans to release this to the Marketplace?
(And yes, I am aware I have to wait for updates if buying from the Marketplace. But I have bought so many addons from so many sites, I know I have lost some. Like when trying to think of examples, I just realized in my reinstall I did a couple weeks ago, I forgot I have a couple addons purchased on flightsim.to. And there are two planes from a Ukranian developer I have lost the web site info for. And then there were two Samscene addons (Isreal and Toronto) I bought direct from Samscene which once purchased provided a download link to a google docs download area that has expired and now I can’t figure out how to redownload them. I just from now on want to have things centrally located so I don’t lose addons anymore.)
Doesn’t seem like many people have splurged on this. I’m going to hold off until I see more reviews. The free ORBX scenery is passable for me.
Thanks, I did see that the other day. Was looking more for some “non-content creator” inputs, as a non-content creator myself
Assuming you still have your payment receipt emails, you can painlessly transfer your SamScene3D purchases to Contrail, which has a great updater built into their app and is usually very quick on product updates.
Gentle reminder for everyone to please ensure we are staying on topic with respects to discussing Aerosoft’s new EDDF Airport.
Thanks.
I am also holding off purchasing till it becomes available onOrbx, they at least incentivize it via the orbs that can be later used. No such thing at Aerosoft shop unfortunately.
And yes - there has been a long pause in any updates coming from Orbx.
Just about to give this one a go.You should check the system requirements first before buying, as they have specified minimum requirements of a 3060 and 8GB VRAM (or preferably more).
- Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 3060 | AMD Radeon RX 6600 or better
- DirectX: DirectX 11
- VRAM: 8 GB (more VRAM recommended)
I can spot collision meshes being used on the terminals with the interiors (similar to some WU handcrafted airports).
Hmm it is not that bad but it still need some work/love.
I had some uneven/bumpy places on taxiway N to RWY 18. (cleared all caches and deleted Premium Deluxe Version)
Performance is okay for that amount of buildings, ground clutter and people inside of the terminals.
You can even turn everything off for more or better performance. (No cars, no ground clutter, no people… in Aerosoft One)
GSX (profile included) works, but yesterday one baggage cart spawned on the roof(?) and the pushback car was in the terminal.
so all in all after one hour testing i would give 7/10
just my 2 cents
Very nice airport, lots of detail, beautiful textures. Glad i bought it.
on my system (4080, 5800x3d, 32gb) with Fshud and Fstl running and ultra graphics
Fps drop to 15 to 20. Without Fshud and Fstl fps double to 36.
The VDGS works well too.
Initial impressions
Is anyone else having difficulty inspecting the inside of the terminals/gates? I enter with drone camera from the side glass of a gate/terminal, get an immediate glimpse of the interior but if I try to move the drone any further I end up with a view on the roof of the building. What? They don’t want us looking around the interiors? Only from the outside? That is just wrong IMO. Their EBBR for example isn’t like this.
The irony here is that the buildings with no interiors you can go inside and looking at the empty shell as much as you want, and there are quite a lot of empty shell buildings especially land side.
Also worthy of note is that the gate interiors don’t illuminate that well at night. The black glass looks almost opaque in nature. (Maybe the real airport is like this?) but the nighttime experience with this one is a rather lacklustre / dark one I have to say, and a bit of a let down because of this.
About as bright as the interiors get while looking in at night
Daytime version (glass quite opaque)
Just inside glass with drone
You can’t move about interior with drone or you end up here
Initial performance with EDDF seems ok for me so far (with 3090 @ 4K), probably similar to Ini’s EGLL. Getting around 24FPS with FSLTL traffic while sat at the gate with the Fenix. (I have seen figures as low as 18 at EGLL). It is nice that they included some performance switches in the Aerosoft one installer. Haven’t had a chance to try them out yet, although by default everything is all enabled including detailed interiors.
So far this version of EDDF just gets an ‘ok’ from me. Don’t get me wrong it looks nice and detailed from the exterior, and the modelled (mainly) gate interiors look ok from outside (apart from the rather dark & opaque glass which is almost completely dark at night) if that’s all that matters to you.
Also people seem to be few and far between too at most gates.
A rather lifeless/empty looking gate.
Personally I’d recommend waiting and see what improvements they make as well as ask questions like why they won’t let us inspect the interiors (what are they trying to hide?). It is IMO a step below what some other devs are currently producing interior wise, and also a step below what their own excellent EBBR is like. The cynical side of me says that the combination of dark opaque glass and the inability to inspect interiors is so we deliberately can’t go inside & critique them too much. I find this approach rather annoying tbh. For this price of airport I just expected a bit more.
Ive never understood this Asobo do it too it totally ruins an airport i like to go inside
If I had to guess, I’d guess Xbox can’t handle them. It’s a weak computer afterall. That’s partially why it costs less.
