I use Simple Traffic, and I would not want to compromise frame rates in any way considering I have what MSFS considers a medium-low rig from a specifications view. I’m quite happy with my 1080 @ 60 fps (at the least 45) in most situations, and wouldn’t want to compromise that just to have a more accurate model.
Given that most of the time, I’m passing these models on the ground (I’m a dedicated GA flyer, so very few times I’d not be on the GA ramp even at a Class 1 airport) and in the air, the closing speed lets me see the livery clearly but the model not so much, I could care less about the relative accuracy. Is it a twin-jet? A four engine? A regional? Cool. Zip and gone at closures of anywhere from 200 to 400 knots. Looked like a Southwest or Ryanair that almost ran me over. Awesome.
I think Aerosoft has a winning solution here personally. Minimum muss and fuss for the right liveries, and it’s more than passable at visual ranges that aircraft would typically encounter each other. They deserve the One-Click Installer title to be sure.
This is a MSFS issue. Even without Simple Traffic I crash when I turn on any kind of AI traffic. Only thing in my community folder is the F22 I like to fly, one small island in the Caribbean airport I developed and a water fix for a lake in Texas. Tried removing the scenery etc and no luck.
UPDATE: I reinstalled MSFS just to be sure something didn’t get messed up and even without Simple Traffic and Community folder empty I crash when trying to load any kind of AI traffic.
entirely off topic (since your issues have nothing to do with simple traffic), but here’s a couple of things to try to solve your issues. Create a Zendesk ticket if these don’t help you;
For me that’s a weird concept. We can always see the talk about immersion and realism. We always hear how bad live weather, aircraft and the ATC is. We can see people being disappointed because a single feature or the sound of an aircraft isn’t good enough.
Now with AI traffic everything is different. Now it doesn’t matter if an aircraft has 2 or 4 engines. It doesn’t matter what model it is as long as the livery is legit. It’s supposed to be a small regional jet on a small airport but the game gives you a distorted Asobo “767” heavy. Guess what. It seems like it doesn’t matter. Can we pick a street and stay on it?
Every time I’ve gotten a Traffic Advisory call, I look and yep, it’s a type as called by ATC.
Have I seen twins on the ground at a Class 3? Absolutely. But when I check the ramp reports and look at historical photos, there in fact is regional traffic to that location. Maybe not now in Pandemic land, but just a few years back? Absolutely.
So if there is inaccuracy (which there will always be given all ST is doing is repainting Asobo traffic), then that’s not on Aerosoft.
So who are you complaining to? I’m not sure. I can’t change whatever it is you’re seeing, but as far as I’m concerned, what I see is “good enough.” Your Mileage May Vary ™.
Every Marketplace update I watch for this and so far, no dice. I’m starting to wonder if MS is ever going to approve it? For most purchases I’m more than happy to skip the marketplace due to its sluggish updates and stupid weapon restrictions, but I’d like to have real airline AI on the Xbox version too so that’s why I’ve been impatiently waiting.
Given that Aerosoft has a good enough relationship with MS that they actually shipped the Twin Otter update in a few days vs their typical ridiculous delays, I was hoping they’d be able to get this through. But still nothing.
Yeah, I’m pretty baffled by this delay myself. I just have a PC to worry about, and bought my Simple Traffic directly from Aerosoft, but have been watching this situation as an interested observer. It certainly has convinced me to avoid the Marketplace at all costs, which is kind of the opposite attitude a marketplace should instill.
Usually a GA flyer, so I wanted to comment on this product from a GA flyer perspective. I try to be realistic and fly IFR vs VFR weather permitting. Considered AIG but I guess the server is out until mid Feb.
Overall I think this product was worth it using offline AI traffic. It was great hearing Delta, UPS, Westjet, Air Canada call signs over ATC instead of generic and Landmark all the time. More important for me, there was still a reasonable amount of GA traffic.
What I’m not sure of is how Simple Traffic uses the AI traffic available. For example, I still had an occasional generic and Landmark call outs. Not sure if decreasing the overall traffic density (I was running at 30%) would get rid of some of these generic aircraft or if it will replace GA traffic.
Not sure why Asobo got rid of separate GA and airline sliders for offline AI last year. Would really come in handy. I think if you are interested in airlines and/or fly into larger airports, this product is a no-brainer.
If you are using Offline AI as your traffic, ST more or less overrides the BGL schedule file (i.e., Orbit, Landmark, other FS Generic carriers, as well as random GA traffic) with their real world airline schedule based on historical data.
You will still occasionally see both GA (which is not governed or addressed by ST) and commerical MS generated traffic.
Using Live Traffic reduces the above situation to GA traffic only, as Live usually only pulls commercial traffic in near real time.
I agree, the absence of parked GA aircraft in Offline AI mode is annoying. But if you do use the online option then it pretty much empties out airports of all parked GA and airline aircraft.
In order to get some parked GA aircraft to show I use Offline AI mode, with “Ground Aircraft Density” set to 50%. It does result in a few default airliner liveries appearing at airports, but the 90% with liveries are correct for the airport in question.
And as mentioned by madbraindoc, I also wish Asobo had kept the separate GA and airliner sliders. Had they done so then we’d not have this problem.
Also, if anyone is interested in removing the annoying “expedite” instructions from the ATC, find the en-US.locpak file in the fs-base folder of your official > onestore folder of your installation. Search for “expedite” and you will see the ATC call-outs. Delete the ATC verbage between the “” marks, then save.
I am looking forward having the tool in the marketplace as an owner of both an Xbox and a PC I try to favor the marketplace so that I can re-use adds-on on both. However, I grew tired of waiting that much, especially after seeing the rave reviews out there. So, I finally bought a version from outside the store, and I can enjoy it from with my PC in the meantime, and frankly it is such a nice piece of software for immersion improvement that I just wished I would have done it earlier.
Now when this will be available in the store, I will probably buy that version too, so that I can enjoy it on my Xbox as well .
Gotta love Simple Traffic at 30 percent - the traffic density is thick. Plus I was waiting at the hold short behind a Departing Southwest flight. I think we’re both headed for Florida.
More AI Offline departures at EGLC, plus a bunch of low flybys. I should probably try and depart from someplace else (headed to Rotterdam), but Heathrow and Gatwick are even denser than here.
