Aerosoft Simple Traffic

I tried it again, and once again ditched it. That must be the most pain in behind piece of software ever created. Is it so difficult really to install a bunch of airlines? I rather look at the Asobo junk than spend a whole day full of frustration setting this up. Besides, the size of those things is huge (probably impact on fps as well?). I’ll wait until someone comes up with a simple piece of software which I can just select the airlines I want to install, then hit install without any other garbage around it.

Same here. Been using Simple Traffic for ages now. It’s great for what it is, with excelelnt quality liveries. I just tolerate the pointed default AI aircraft noses, and weird AI behaviour. I use it in live traffic mode and it’s great as a fire and forget solution. Now if only there was a simple FS mod for replacing those pointy nosed default AI planes, I’d be largely all set.

Simple Traffic just got an update on Aerosoft One;

Simple traffic is perfect for people who are not used to doing complicated add-on installations.
Here is a list of airlines that were included in the initial product release followed by an update list of added airlines:-

Yes but I figured they all use the same pointy nose A330 generic model, so I’ll give AIG one more try…

They do. They say they will be introducing their own models at some stage though.

There are six generic models used by Simple Traffic:
A320N (A320Neo)
QJH (Quad Jet Heavy - A380 type)
RJL (Regional Jet Light)
RJM (Regional Jet Medium)
TJH (Twin Jet Heavy - A330 type)
TJM (Twin Jet Medium)
The liveries differ for each type, based on real-world operators of that type.

I saw screenshots of an AirBaltic A330, the A220 would be closer to the A320. There definitely is a market for something like this. I mean, I’m not interested in having every model and livery correct. I want a KLM B737 to look like a KLM Boeing 737 but I don’t need every custom livery and model with or without WIFI antenna and whatnot to be correct as with AIG…

For me (since I mostly fly GA), the amount of times I can see the models close up enough to even notice the pointy nose are few and far between. Having the correct liveries at the airports adds a lot of realism when I’m taxiing to the GA apron

That sums it up well. They are intended to look good at a glance, but not to cause frame rate loss. And in this they work.

I’d be fairly happy with just a quick digital filing down of those pointed noses. I’m sure that could be achieved without too much performance loss. They don’t need to be perfecty round either.

I’m not entirely sure what this means for the addon - could you elaborate?

Waiting patiently to give you my money :ok_hand:

Sorry for a very late reply.

At this moment it is possible (via the SDK) to assign cargo aircraft to cargo areas of the airports. This is now supported so you will see fewer cargo aircraft at places that should not be in 3rd party airports that include this information.

True, but that is something Microsoft will need to do. We only repaint what the sim spawns as best as possible.

Remember it is called ‘Simple Traffic’ and not 'Moderately Accurate Traffic" and is not priced even close to what AI traffic packages cost for P3D.

Oh I agree. M/S devs are fully to blame here and I hope they improve the default AI models at some stage. I fully understand that Simple Traffic repaints default AI aircraft and it is superb at doing exactly that tailored by location, with a super easy install which is key for me. It’s also made a huge improvement having live aircraft taking off now after SU8. (I use it in live traffic mode).

i wonder if this is coming to the xbox?

The answer to your question lies above…

It’s stated uptopic that it was submitted to MS months ago at this point. For some reason they haven’t approved it yet.

aww, crazy why this takes so long and ty.
