Aerosoft Twin Otter baby!

this is incredibly disheartening. Will there be a PC version of the twotter with the missing animations restored? I was looking forward to purchasing this aircraft but not if its a stripped down version to fit on console. I absolutely will not be buying the a330 if this is the case. I understand Aerosoft is a business and don’t hold it against them to go after a larger market. But my faith in them to deliver enjoyable products for PC is now completely gone. For a long time I have trusted them as a company and admire M. Kok as the head of their team and thoroughly enjoy a lot of their products. but this just saddens me. I am pretty shocked that Mathijs even admitted this. This is goodbye Aerosoft for me, for now. I’m sure a lot will roll their eyes at my dramatic tone but I’m also sure a lot feel the same way.

I just don’t understand why RAM usage can’t expand based on what is available on each platform. Why does it have to be capped? A lot of people on PC seem to have 32GB, and it’s 16GB for FS and 16 GB for a nice ‘free headroom’ running of Windows. I was making the point the other day that I could simultaneously run & flip between FS, Photoshop, Firefox (multitabs open) etc all with not a blip on performance and that was on my laptop. At this point that’s all the extra 16GB seems to get you, which is crazy. Sorry if this is off topic, I’ll shut up now.

I feel the same. All of us simmers who kept them going buying their stuff for P3D / X-Plane all those years, and now they just said, see ya…

Its ok, as with all these things in life, You drop the ball in some customers eyes, there is always someone else who will pick it right up.

The XBOX DC6 debacle has clearly caused things tighten up around the XBOX!

FI website had a separate version of the Spitfire (with guns). The version they sent the store did not. Why can’t ASoft sell one to PCs via their app, and a stripped down (gamey version) to the store for XBOX.

There is no such thing as “study Level” in a Video Game or sim. This term people use is so far off the mark for realism. Go try a Level D Simulator that is study level. Don’t get why people keep using this term Study Level.
The Twin Otter is acceptable to fly in this game just as the game itself is not polished.
There is a lot of hate here for the Twin Otter but really it comes off as a pretty good model of a plane for a game such as MSFS2020! It does need some work but it’s far from not being realistic.

It doesn’t have to be gamey but could be limited.

Aerosoft and MK are all up the XBOX now. They even hold back PC releases and fixes until the the market place updates.. all in the name of fairness… Even though… Well you know what I am going to say .

Always drama with this SIM…

There are plenty of study level planes in flight Sims.

Several real life Airbus pilots have stated on stream that the fs labs Airbuses can be used for on the line training.

Here is a study level aircraft for you in a sim: Take Command!: Hot Start Challenger 650, X-Aviation

Multiple real world pilots have stated is the most advanced aircraft they have flown in a flight sim and almost, if not, a 1:1 of the real thing in respect of systems. I would take their opinion over yours (and mine).

Imagine this in MSFS, it would be perfect, awesome visuals / weather / immersion and an incredible aircraft.

Seriously???
I hope they are not up in the cockpit when I’m along for the ride!
Streamers…nothing but paid content creators!

It is only a matter of opinion for them, they are most likely on YouTube. Don’t hold out for The Twin Otter to ever be that good as well as most of the other aircraft.

Nah, it’s not acceptable when the autopilot doesn’t work.

Most of the AP works for me except Outbound Radials and I’ve heard IAS doesn’t work.
At least for me the rest of the AP does work in every flight I’ve done so far.
It needs some fixing as noted but it is NOT completely not working.

@Pete1961

I have never ever got it to engage in the climb without pitching down, and I would say 95% of the time it shoots through the selected altitude. Then is unresponsive when I reset a negative VS to try and capture it again.

Do you think things would sell half as well on Xbox if it was known their versions weren’t half as good as the PC ones?

lol they fly the actual plane. Do your own research on the matter! Maybe stop flying MSFS too!

Definitely not, maybe some would still buy, maybe some would move to PC. Now had the XBox been marketed as running “FS XBox Edition” instead of the full FS experience then maybe expectations would have reduced accordingly. You have to remember that MS goal is content delivery and gamepass subs, remember even Windows is free to upgrade these days. Console battles (as witnessed in their recent acquisition) is part of that. That’s why I doubt you will ever see them downplay FS on XBox. It’s content sales commission and market share that are king. It’s not selling hardware (at cost). It’s part of the reason we get so much free content from them - it generates buzz for more market share.

Yep. So guess who suffers?

All is not lost though, when Xbox Z is released, we should get a boost in aircraft fidelity.

PC users also benefit from XBox, that also often gets lost somewhere. FS on PC benefitted immensely from SU5 despite protestations to the contrary. Mid level PC were then able to run FS. My main gripe and I don’t have many relates to the 16GB RAM cap. I just don’t see why it can’t adapt to each platform, even for caching purposes. Maybe it does though and we just don’t know about it? To me the wider the user base the healthier it is for the long term future of FS though. This discussion is now way off topic for this thread so to stop getting moderated I’m parking this for now.
