So, after I updated the sim(world update and update 6) my fps went down a lot. I used to get 30-45 fps on High preset. Changing the graphics setting didn’t change my fps. I am getting around 7-10 fps on all the graphics presets(low, medium, High, Ultra)
Here is a video for more detail. There is a fps counter on the bottom left. Also there were no background apps(other than the screen recorder)Sometimes my fps gets better but it never goes above 20.
Please help me out
PC specs:
Ryzen 5 3600
RTX 2060 Super
16gb DDR4-3600
did you try without mods at all?
restart computer?
it the same fps for me.
I didnt try without mods yet. I willl try that later
Having exact same issue, dropped from 30 fps to 9-10 fps at my regular routes after update. Managed to bring it to 25 fps as i observed my graphic settings was changed by nvdia (updated rhe drivers also).
Yes when you install new driver, you must check your Nvidia setting or it override your MSFS graphic option setting.
Things to do:
- Set on Nvidia control panel and disable game experience option like below
- Disable Vsync in MSFS, use render scaling 100, glass panel update frequency to medium
I"m seeing the same reduction - same graphics settings. Note that this is post the latest update (nav data only they said). It was fine with the official Nov 24th update.
I tried your steps but i’m still getting around 7-10 fps
I think I found a solution(not sure if this will work for everyone. (Be sure to remember your 3D settings so you can apply them later))
- Open Nvidia Control Panel
- Go to manage 3D settings
- And press the “Restore Button”
- Open up flight sim and check if it works
- If it does you can put your 3d Settings back
- Open flight sim again and check if it works
I thought doing “let the 3d app control decide” option, would reset that page, probably I done both before.
What are you trying to convey? I truly don’t understand.
I dont understand what you are saying
So did my solution work?
i have the same problem, but haven’t found anything that helps yet. The problems also started with the patch. Another thing I noticed: I have 2 monitors, but I only play on one. Before the patch I could run and use different applications on the other monitor without any problems. After the patch, even the mouse pointer freezes sometimes for a second or two, and the applications stutter as well. In the taskmanager the process “system” always rushes to the top. Maybe a bad optimization? I do not know.
Have the similar issue, my fps is stuck at 5 fps when the window is active and when clicking outside it goes back up. Noticed this issue after the patch.
Also noticed that theres no fps issues when flying a landing challenge and only occurs when creating a flight. Pretty sure its not a driver issue but the patch
To the new people in the discussion, I have made a post on Dec 6th. You can find the post here. Check if the solution works for you.
It is still not on the previous level, but it is much better! Thanks a lot. That helped.
Hope this problem gets fixed by the next patch
Your welcome
What I think is happening here is that your Nvidia 3D settings are going back to the Nvidia default of “Optimal power”. Ensure that your 3D power settings are set to “Adaptive” (what I’d recommend) or “Optimal Performance” (not recommended; this will keep your GPU at max MHz constantly)
The steps suggested by @ExpressTomato52 basically prevents any automatic changes in future for MFS if the driver or game updates.
The steps mentioned by you is what i did in addition to optimizing the settings a bit as per other forum posts and suggestions and that proved to restore the performance back to its original state.
In short the problem was in fact caused by change in nvdia settings and to fix it you will have to restore back to the previous settings.
