After Win11 latest update, MSFS causes PC reboot, even when run in safe mode

Every time I try to run MSFS, my PC reboots

Unable, the screen goes black and then the PC will reboot

Detailed steps to reproduce the issue encountered:

Start MSFS, the reboot will take place each and every time

PC specs and peripheral set up:

Intel(R) Core™ i9-9900 CPU @ 3.10GHz 3.10 GHz, 64GB RAM, Nvidia RTX 3080Ti

The event viewer shows three consecutive fault buckets at the same time

The error is probably related to Nvidia drivers. Try clean installing the GPU drivers.

A quick search of the internet shows this is a Windows / Nvidia issue and be around for years off and on with lots of different “games” so I don’t think its an MSFS bug.

A quick check doing a clean reinstall of the driver using NVCleanInstall shows indeed that this is NOT a driver issue and it only occurs when running MSFS after the last windows 11 update.

Here are some other Fault Bucket IDs registered by the Event Viewer before the last reboot:

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?

Same issue on Win 10. Clean install game through Xbox app. Begins in game download after selecting the destination drive. Gets to 5% downloaded or so and cpu immediately soft boots. Have attempted admin, safe mode, and multiple clean installs will soft reset PC every time. No BSoD but similar symptoms to a BSoD. FS was working fine on the same computer a few months ago.
