Since moving to the 1.6.11.0 build of the beta, I have noticed some significant performance and fps drops when loading in AI aircraft traffic. This comes from both default sim models as well as FSLTL models (And in terms of FSLTL models, this is in both 4K, 2K, and the custom 1K textures as well). I used BATC traffic injection with FSLTL models in 1.6.7.0 and saw some very consistent FPS levels on the ground in big airports. To give a specific instance:
FSLTL 2K textures
All Sliders set to 5
iniBuilds OTHH (Enhanced Building Details and Detailed Terminal options off) and OTBH (with Iron Sim Doha Skyline)
TLOD set at 300 and OLOD set at 120
iniBuilds A350-900 (no cabin) with reduced textures
1.6.7.0: FPS levels consistently around 28-35 when stationary, reduced to 20-25 when taxiing and taking off
1.6.11.0: FPS levels around 25-30 when stationary and looking away from terminal, reduced to 10-12 when panning towards terminal. When moving, FPS is around 15-20 away from terminal and down to 5-7 when looking towards terminal
I wonder if the mainthread impact is from managing all the flashing strobes/beacons on all the injected aircraft, a regression/bug with the current beta as noted in the BATC discord.
I get AI planes landing over me whilst at the end of the runway. Or they take off heading towards me, on the same runway. AKA the mother of all near misses.
The passengers are, literally, getting sick of the service.
Yeah, I know about the issue. Wondering if more is broken. It is thankfully found by Asobo and fixed in the next SU4 beta based on Dev Forum. I expect some impact from extra objects being injected, but this is a lot. I will try a check on VATSIM later so see if it is as significant. I also feel that VATSIM injections are alot more fluid too.
My thought is that perhaps BATC is spamming simconnect activity trying to control its traffic, which is affecting sim performance. I guess we’ll see if the performance impact improves once this specific bug fix goes into the Beta release.
